Sick a$s show/episode. I found some interesting links on Reddit about some characters in this show.
I'll copy and paste the details below.

I enjoyed episode 3 a lot, the plot is mainly fictional but it shows the roles each of the three men played in Harlem. Bumpy as the fixer for the mob, Malcolm as the Black nationalist leader who wanted to build a movement and Powell as the careful yet reckless politician.
FACT:
The Fruit Of Islam was a paramilitary organization that was composed of Nation of Islam members. They were there mainly to protect representatives of the NOI (in this case Malcolm X)
Adam Clayton Powell was instrumental in getting John F. Kennedy elected in 1960 and helped him campaign in Harlem and garner the Black vote in other Northern cities. In return, Powell wanted Kennedy to help spur meaningful civil rights legislation. In the 1956 election before, Powell broke party ranks and supported Republican president Eisenhower over Adlai Stevenson because the Democrats did not have a strong civil rights plank.
Drew Pearson wrote several articles admonishing Adam Clayton Powell Jr.
A lot of the stores in Harlem were jewish or Italian owned. So while Fidler's might be fictional, the antipathy toward a jewish business in Harlem in 1963 does make sense.
I presume O'Donnell is Kenneth O'Donnell who was a close adviser and White House Appointments Secretary to John F. Kennedy:
In 1960, Corrine Huff , Miss Ohio USA becomes the first black woman to advance to the Miss USA 1960 Competition after it was discovered that the original winner did not meet the age requirement eligibility. Corrine made the top 15 at Miss USA. Corrine Huff was the Congressional Receptionist to Adam Clayton Powell. Powell was married to Puerto Rican woman named Yvette Flores Diago. They separated and she at this time was living in Puerto Rico.
The Dixiecrats (Southern Democrat segregationists) hated Adam Clayton Powell and would use any flaw or negative press to smear him.
Ernie states to Gigante "that the moolies are protesting something every other week". The Civil Rights Movement was in full swing in early 1963 and one of the campaigns of the movement during this year took place in Harlem, where Black and Puerto Rican construction workers claimed that they were excluded from working on Harlem Hospital.
FICTION:
A part of Malcolm X’s pet peeves as a converted Muslim was profanity and it is highly unlikely that he would curse.
Not really fiction, but being a lifelong resident of Brooklyn, I noticed the DeKalb Avenue street sign when the Fruit of Islam was walking. DeKalb Avenue is located in Bedford-Stuyvesant.
Marilyn Monroe had been dead for eight months (again I'm using the fact that the Doug Jones-Cassius Clay fight on March 13 hasn't happened as a timeframe), I don't think Powell would have joked with Kennedy about her but this is television
UNSURE:
Joe Bonanno and Vincent Gigante's war is probably fictional but around this time the Buffalo mob was mad that he was muscling in on the Toronto territory. This is the same sentiment Gigante has.
Costello does in fact confirm that he is not fully retired although Gigante doesn't see it that way.
If I got anything wrong or maybe forgot something please let me know.
