I don’t subscribe to the concept having to prove your worth to society through productivity.
While able bodied folks should def provide the necessary means of production and consumption to keep society moving forward, there are others, for whatever reason are incapable.
If we as a society are fine with the existence of some to hoard an excess of wealth, we should provide an equal measure of empathy towards those with very little.

Why should they get to live in housing that others have to pay for? They can live in a trailer in the middle of nowhere like all the other poor people. They shouldn’t feel entitled to living in prime real estate. Also they’re limiting it to 2 years, which should be more than enough time to get back on your feet
Why should someone get to own a yacht or several sky scrapers while others don’t have enough to eat?
Why is it you are ok with one form of inequality but against the other?
Going to be honest with you guys, I live in northern VA/DC area and it frustrates the hell out of me that I pay $2700/month on a 1 bedroom and I see a few of my neighbors who clearly 100% use housing vouchers and live in the same building as me and provided the same luxury. They stick out like a sore thumb
Many people picture that every person who is provided housing assistance is stuck in the slums or in the hood. This is not always true.

not good for older people or people with disabilities
I’m a section 8 baby. My mother is retired from the federal government now and she raised a son that owns multiple properties a will be making over a quarter million in a couple of years. These programs need to be revamped but 2 years isn’t enough time. As a landlord I would not even entertain a 24 month section 8 voucher.
