I don’t subscribe to the concept having to prove your worth to society through productivity.

While able bodied folks should def provide the necessary means of production and consumption to keep society moving forward, there are others, for whatever reason are incapable.

If we as a society are fine with the existence of some to hoard an excess of wealth, we should provide an equal measure of empathy towards those with very little.

Why should they get to live in housing that others have to pay for? They can live in a trailer in the middle of nowhere like all the other poor people. They shouldn’t feel entitled to living in prime real estate. Also they’re limiting it to 2 years, which should be more than enough time to get back on your feet

Why should someone get to own a yacht or several sky scrapers while others don’t have enough to eat?
Why is it you are ok with one form of inequality but against the other?

Ya'll cheering for this as if the money saved is going to you. it's going to the already rich. I'd rather it stay with the poor.

Meanwhile we as a people lose a valuable safety net that was there if ever needed.

Going to be honest with you guys, I live in northern VA/DC area and it frustrates the hell out of me that I pay $2700/month on a 1 bedroom and I see a few of my neighbors who clearly 100% use housing vouchers and live in the same building as me and provided the same luxury. They stick out like a sore thumb

Many people picture that every person who is provided housing assistance is stuck in the slums or in the hood. This is not always true.

Because it’s their fu#king money and if they choose to spend it on a yacht that is their fu#king choice. Who the fu#k are you to tell someone how to spend their money?

If you choose to spend your money on others, that’s cool - but you have no right telling someone else how to spend their income

I’m a section 8 baby. My mother is retired from the federal government now and she raised a son that owns multiple properties a will be making over a quarter million in a couple of years. These programs need to be revamped but 2 years isn’t enough time. As a landlord I would not even entertain a 24 month section 8 voucher.

Because they can buy a yacht? Why should someone be 6’ while someone is 4’11? Why should someone be smart and others are dumb?

Life is unfair and it’s baked into the cake. Dumb comment

Based on available information, at least 238 federal lawmakers are also landlords. This represents around 44% of the total 535 members of Congress (435 Representatives and 100 Senators).

They just want to take advantage of more people. People cheering this on are stupid.

That’s guaranteed money for 2 years ! So I’m sure many will entertain it.

the problem is there’s abled bodies that are capable, thats consuming and not producing, purposely. and if you’re abled you’re supposed to be productive within society.. even down the smallest level, it all matters. what’s wrong with you
