With all this music out here why people be most focused on what they claim they don’t like nor listen too?
Because it’s over saturated with low quality beats, production and weak lyrics…

Kind of like mainstream TV and movies

I can see the appeal, it wouldn't be something I personally would listen to though

This one wasn't bad at all though

We def had some BS being put out when I was coming up (Crunk/Snap era), throughout hip hops history I feel like, only difference is music now is more accessible due to social media and streaming platform and a lot of the BS that came out during the 80s, 90s, 00s either gets forgotten about, or glossed over.
emoji

But you can listen to alot of newer artists and tell it's a byproduct of '08+ Wayne, Gucci, and Future, from the Young Thugs all the way to the NBA Youngboys.
T-Pain as well if you really wanna go there since he's the one that brought autotune back
emoji

But maybe this is how our grandparents felt when the tides began to shift from R&B/Soul to Hip Hop
emoji
I see what your saying & there’s a lot of truth there.

Im 35, so im a young OG & grew up through the Golden era of rap (90’s).

I always remember almost 20 years ago, when older heads couldnt understand how T.I. & Wayne were on top the rap game, & boom bap sh1t was being phased out, but rap was extremely lyrical & there was more bravado & flash at that time (Rims, cars, Chains).

This new rap sh1t from the last 4-5 years has been trending down like a mf. I’ve always listened to lyrics since I started listening to rap, & now its mumble sh1t or weird sh1t.

Its a big difference in the quality, you dont have to be an oldhead to notice it. Lil Uzi is probably the biggest of the young artists, & that says a lot about todays young rap scene
emoji
Going away from traditional bars & rap seems to be the new trend.

Rap has changed and went through trends since the beginning, but the stuff being pushed these days is strange.

Then the wrong artist was used.

Call out these artists that chart in the top 10 on the billboards and be doin all these damn features with other acts that always chart in the top 10.

Love it or hate it 33 track with just 4 feature and 2 on one song is the facts.

And this is after dropping an extremely experimental album

Plus all them QUALITY albums last year.
2 years and counting on house arrest as well.

It’s just weird all this hate for what hip-hop is suppose to represent.

Moving units without mainstream industry push.

It can’t be easy. Nor lack quality Theres not even one other act across all genres doing this. And that’s thought out the history of keeping track of music. sh1ts crazy this hate for and of one specific artist.
It’s just shows you can’t buy creativity .

Most of this crap is manufactured propaganda and people are getting wise to the bull sh1t .

I’m not saying every single artist in todays venue but I’d say 90%

It’s saying something when rap in the 90s had better production value than 2023 …

Hip-hop / rap was just newer 30 years ago.

Even rock n roll probably had a similar issues.
Live instruments are different though.

And provin to last centuries.

That might be one of the issues with hip-hop.

Nothing but complaints when “covers” in hip-hop occur. Be original, that’s already been done and better blah blah blah

Hip-hop not only is competitive but very petty and spiteful it seems towards the youth even when wanting to embrace the past.

Which is odd since y’all went through the same things.

A whole lotta toxicity was going on but now it was supposedly all roses
I’m talking about talent on the mic and behind the scenes (beats ) (music composition ) (production value )etc..that’s something todays rap doesn’t display much of now a days .

Do you think you’ll still be listening to todays new artists 20 years from now ?

90s rap is still in my rotation via CDs , records players etc … which I just bought …

All I’m saying is these new dudes better step up their game because the lack of talent really shows compared to the old school production…

No hate here just old old head expecting more out of this new generation and technology…

Signing off !!!

most people think the music from when they were in their late teens to mid twenties is the best and music went downhill immediately afterwards ....

.... because those are generally the best, most fun, responsibility free years of a person's life
