Music is timeless - the music industry is catered towards "young" people bc theyre more easily influenced and will buy whatever is presented to them as "cool".

It’s new n1ggas that can rap so imo if you feel like you out of touch then that’s on you

Now if you mean out of touch as far as not being of the know with a lot of new rappers then that’s different

It’s always a group in every era that can rap out of the new batch that pop up every 3-5 years

I tapped out about 3-4 years ago. I still hear some songs I like but for the most part I’m listening to older artist, especially ones that I didn’t listen to a lot when I was younger

i think it's trash coz most new rappers just follows the same wave ...they all sound alike ...it use to be a thing to be called a biter (pause) ....there is not much innovation in rap today ...everyone is just chasing the next tik tok trend song ....

it's already bad that all the beats and rappers follow the same cadence all songs can only be 2 minutes so it can fit social media ...no one is making great albums no more

Yep, I been saying hip hop turned into pop because instead of trying to create a sound unique to yourself, guys just want to go with whats hot.

It’s literally a blueprint now where record companies can just throw together a artist like they did pop artist back in the day.

Also I think the game got messed up with the popularity of trap music and the mixtape era. Any and everyone with a laptop could put out a cd and all you had to do was get a beat from Southside or Lex Luger… and in doing so music no longer sounded regional and too often I heard songs I like not realizing the artist was from LA or New York.

I like some of it. Not what you posted but some of them. All depends if they have something to say and if they have a unique/captivating way to say it.

yeah I'm an old head now and I've accepted this
youngboy is someone I just can't understand the popularity of

everything ive ever heard from him sounds like absolute trash but hes one of the most listened to rappers.

when it comes to new rap I'm usually listening to older rappers who are dropping new projects. I'm open to sh1t, but a lot of it just sounds so bad

I'm sure there's still artists out there that make good music, but like the last 2 decades, you gotta look for it.
Though I'll admit, I have to look for some myself since I've been listening to artists that I've been listening to for years now (KRIT, Kendrick, Cole, Lupe, Oddisee, Mick Jenkins, Joey Bada$$, Blu, Curren$y, Le$, etc.)

But every now and again I come across an artist/artists that I enjoy.
I got into Larry June through a Le$ song and been listening to his stuff for about 2 years now

[see video]

I was on YT listening to music when I saw a Westside Gunn song, never listened to him before, but as an artist I loved the album cover and that drew me in

[see video]

Those 2 may not be "new" per se, but they're new enough to me

YT Music is pretty good at recommending music and new artists

i like the fact that i can basically only look for a few artists to get my old head fix (griselda, trust gang, banks etc.). i feel like that scene is ''healthy'' right now and I love it.

no doubt im out of touch with what's poppin but i just dont care

That song sucked and it’s not about being out of touch, the bar is set so low and you don’t have to rhyme good and have good concepts and lyrics, and it’s more about who can make the coolest noises and voices while they use programs to fuk wit they voice and only rhyming barely and it’s ppl who like that kinda sh1t especially young ppl who grew up with that sh1t, I personally liked when hip hop had unique styles, crazy bars and production, the whole package that’s why I don’t fuk wit rap now these dudes can’t even speak full sentences and drugged up all the time lookin foolish
