I'm pretty sure Philly was going to trade out that pick regardless, unless they had a chance at Duncan. Was the only way they could get out of the Lucious Harris contract at the time. Was some people at the time, that thought Tim Thomas had more upside then KVH. To this day Jay Wright says THomas was the most talented player he ever coached. Thomas showed some flashes of brilliance at different times in his career, but never really put it all together.
KVH did kind of give off the impression of playing on his own terms at times. Borris Diaw was an animal on the Spurs/ Suns at times, but could shut it down if he wasn't the feeling the energy on other teams.
Tim Thomas had a ton of hype that didn't carry to the NBA marketing machine whatsoever
he didn't receive any of that previous fanfare in the NBA like hs and college once his pro career actually started.
then there was his penchant for weed back then when coaches organizations and the media was big hating. he was a cool dude and when you're 6"10 and not aggressive by nature and high....they will talk sh1t.
van horn was solid all around him not wanting to play on a bad team without structure and a bunch of guys struggling with AI's 9ut every night gang energy....thats not for everyone obviously.
he came from Majerus structured system, took the game seriously and then got sent to a garbage team its not the first case.
playing that racism card is a foul side swipe by the creator of that video
