Lil Wayne had so much music. bro was pumping out new content weekly during that height, so for every average/bad track/feature he had about 5-6 to compensate for it lol.

We all know Wayne had the best run in rap history, but were his featured verses AMAZING? Or were we just captured by the aura and presence of Wayne simply being on the track?

If you listen to his features from back then, a lot of them feel like he started handing out throwaway verses. When your doing over 100 features in a year, and artists are just happy and content with you just BEING on the track, it’s possible you can just give them ANYTHING. They just want you on the song

Basically I’m asking, was he really murdering his features? Was he killing songs? Was there greatness and effort in his verses? Or was the hype of Wayne alone on the track enough to say how great the verse was?

He did that song with pleasure P and just recited Aaliyah’s verse from “I Don’t Wanna”

What was the Best feature Wayne had during his run?
Serious question for OP. Who cares?

For folks thinking Drake had a bigger run……

Drake never put his foot down like this…. This was Wayne talking to hiphop while he was the hottest n1gga out.
I'll never forget this sh1t. This man was at the peak of his run (arguably the greatest run of all time) and could have came out and performed any of his big hits.

Instead he comes out and performs an unreleased track and absolutely sh1ts on the entire game. I watched this sh1t live and was in awe. One of the most powerful performances I've seen, given the circumstances.

I prefer Hot boys/Big Tymers Wayne over all of his forms. He was spitting like a mf when he was a youngin.

Nope. Again. One of those eras that you just had to be there. Lot of that sh1t if you go back and listen to it now the lyrics aged terribly but it was how he was doing it. The mixtape run was unparalled then carter 3 dropped. A Milli was the hardest song at the time that bass drop, all of us had subs in the trunk the summer was wild af. You had to be there.

I always thought Wayne was cool, just supremely overrated.

I think he said he was the best rapper and people just accepted it. I never at any point thought he was the best rapper. He did have an amazing run though.

He's a good rapper, never saw him as great. Me personally, I've never seen him as best in the south. Definitely at one point, he was the most successful.
JayZ did the same thing. People only called Jayz the best because jazy called himself that. He pulled the same stunt to get people
to call Reasonable Doubt a classic, tho he had a helping hand from XXL magazine.

I have to disagree. What Wayne did was on a bigger scale than snoop, 50 and pac.

Mixtape run
Over 100 features
Then dropping the huge lolipop song
And then the Carter 3 which went platinum in a week

What he was doin in music, and that level to the point you had EMINEM wanting to diss him out of jealousy, winning grammys. (Best rap album). Lolipop (best rap song) And just being EVERYWHERE at the time.

I will give u props on that last take tho. I’m listening to them old songs he was featured on and it’s like “……. These are some average bars”

Dawg was on “I can’t believe it” with T pain just mumbling and giggling.
Pac in 96 couldn’t be touch and I was only 7 saw and heard it with my own eyes. Everywhere u go u couldn’t escape pac. I remember Hail Mary came out and I use to play ball after school at the rec with my friends. Even lil kids was quoting the hook over and over . MTV News it was “2 pac this 2 pac that”. I fu#k with Wayne but nah he wasn’t hotter than 96 pac. I got 03 50 behind pac then 08 Wayne.

Wayne def had the best run in rap history, more impressive than drake, pac, snoop, 50 or whoever run..

Add the fact he been rappin nearly 30 years, still relevant in music and can kill a verse today, gets love & respect from the older & younger generation of rappers - Wayne def top 5 all time

My favorite feature probably because he had a subject in mind and rapped to it. Too many of his features during that time was just random sh1t that rhymed
This song in general is crazy. My favorite sh1t is when the chorus is coming in, just for Big Boi to step on that motherfu#ker and go right into his verse. Krit did something similar on Cadillactica. Tough.

Goodness gracious. Leave it up to boxden to come in and try to pretend something wasn't as great as we thought.

Dude earned every bit of that run... remember people weren't on him like that for 500 degrees and he changed that with Carter 1 and 2. Did the drought mixtapes and Dedication mixtapes and the boy was rapping his a$s off.

If you weren't a fan then just simply say you weren't a fan and don't come in here typing essays trying to change the narrative like we didn't witness theis sh1t personally with our own eyes and ears.
