One of the best crime movies of all time

Especially being from Los Angeles I can never get tired of it.

That movie is an example of a legendary level acting (Denzel) with a well written and well directed film

We need more of that sh1t
^^^this

No, actually, I wouldn't because its not happening.... EVER. $10,000 says you can't find a single example of a cop getting sprayed up like that and them getting away with it

In the original ending they had Denzel live. But Denzel didn't like that. He said no way you doing all of that sh1t and getting away with it. So he forced them to change the ending or he was out.

Real life Alonzo only did 18 months in prison and was worse than the movie showed. He was part of crash and was selling a lot of drugs. Had young gfs all over. Real scumbag.

Thats one of the 1st things I noticed when I was in LA. It's not a late night city at all. NYC is the exact opposite or at least it was before covid
With them early a$s football games, you know they're morning birds

i dont have any actual cases of it happening in the US as i am not from the US

but, this sorta thing happens to cops when they get involved with Mafias and Cartels in many countries and its not rare or surprising at all. Also doesnt get solved either

yes, Training Day is based in the US and we are talking about the US here,so no, i dont have any actual cases of this happening there

Some people theorized she was part of the crew and her lighting the cigarette was a signal that she positively identified Alonzo.
She was in the van he hit when he backed up....and she pulled up beside him initially so yeaaa she was the spotter

Wow. Ive watched this movie hundreds of time and never knew what they were saying. I dont even know why he still went to LAX without the money anyway. One of my earliest illustrations of karma. Got damn this sh1t is a classic
Denzel changed the ending because he said he doesn’t want the bad guy to live. Or get an east death.

It doesn’t make sense because it was never supposed to be one of the true endings.

Tho I agree he had to go.

At night in LA hell yea

City falls asleep out here for sure
Is that a downtown thing, or a hood thing or both

I must admit that's surprised me, I always had this mental picture of LA being a 24 hour city

I heard the wiseman pulled up at the end too. Probably to off him but they wanted it to look like a happier ending
They did pull up trying to get the money so Hoyt wouldn't book it in evidence and Hoyt was gonna talk to Internal affairs. The Wisemen knew they're fu#ked at that point.

Didn't Hoyt also have a meeting with the wiseman at the end of the movie? I read somewhere that was an alternate ending

Also it had to of been obvious in the original ending that Hoyt had the money I mean why was Denzel screaming JAKE! I NEED MY MONEY!!! Lol

Clearly he took it w em lmao
Yes.

One of the wisemen got out of the car when Hoyt had pulled up to his home after he'd shot Alonzo and left The Jungle.

The wiseman asked, "Where's the money?" but Hoyt just looked at him and walked away towards the front door of his home.

What we see in the theatrical edit is Jake walking towards the front door. However, if you look closely, you can see the wisemen sitting in the car outside of his home.

Don't know why they edited it out.

He said the same thing about the ending for American Gangster.

He told the director that if he took the role of Frank Lucas that there had to be a reckoning or atonement for his actions in the movie.

He didn't want to put forth the image that the "bad guy" had won or escaped justice.

Denzel that dude for real.
