Great post..definitely one of the things you learn growing up playing. Passing will always move the defense better than dribbling. And being on defense playing while a team willingly passes and is smart using their cuts and spacing is frustrating.
Yea from peewee to college bout it … you make it to NBA !!!

ISO BABY !!! All day

Only a basketball philosopher would make that video. Nobody cares about team ball there’s a reason the NBA markers stars over teams.
part of the reason why the league was stale for so long.

There is some parody now, but there are so many fundamental elements of the game missing from this superstar crap. The game needs its hero's, but it would be a lot better with that balance.

That strategy is effective but so is dribble penetration and taking a guy off the dribble 1 on 1 or posting someone up for turn around jumpers or 3 pointer. Even tho basketball is a team game, it’s also an individual game as well because each of the 5 players on the floor posses a unique skill set. This is what makes basketball entertaining.

Imagine if the NBA was like this every possession, nobody would watch because we wouldnt be able to see any of the players display their individual skill sets and athleticism or style of play. I can’t even tell who’s nice on the squad or who got the most skills cause everybody doing the same thing and ain’t going outside the pass pass pass pass pass pass pass pass pass pass pass pass layup structure

Exactly.

Of course a team needs a star to lean on when things break down, BUT sustained success is earned through fundamental play.

You would pay for tickets to go to a game and watch your favorite NBA team do this for 48 minutes? You would get with your buddies to drink beers and watch a game at a bar of this style of basketball for 48 minutes?

Im only advocating for this style in college lol. Where you have a 1,000 teams so one team doing something completely unique is fine by me. Like how Navy runs their offense in football, don't want that for the NFL necessarily but its ok for college. If that makes any sense.

Nah I feel you, college style of play gets boring for real sometimes depending on the team. Games be having the scores like high school aau/club team scores

You gotta admit though nothing turns up like the NCAA tournament doe. That sh1t is consistently lit. And I'm a fan of the aspect of "development" so I like to see the young gunners play before they make the league. And i do enjoy the contrast to the NBA style and the "This could be my last game" aspects as well, they play with more heart imo.

Honestly, I’ll take this over possession after possession of iso. Do I think that every possession calls for this type of passing? Nah… but motion, execution, chemistry, and synergy is a pleasurable watch for me. Especially in comparison to an offense predicated on iso - which isn’t a fun watch (to me) because of the stagnation.

All in all, I believe every phase of offense has its place within the game. As you’ve stated - “ a win is a win “. It just so happens that the teams who have sustained success prioritize ball movement first.
