Got an update for yall
The day has come and gone and Joseph Ossai did not commit to Texas. As we said, we don’t believe there is anything imminent coming. Though, Texas A&M’s lack of a defensive coordinator is certainly helping the Longhorns here. Ossai has gone back and forth between UT and A&M over the last several months and has contemplated giving silent commitments on multiple occasions, so nothing would be surprising. We checked in with some sources tonight, and Ossai has not informed Texas of any kind of decision.
— I spoke with Texas A&M linebacker commit DaShaun White, who told me he’s really waiting to see who the Aggies hire as their defensive coordinator. With uncertainty in College Station, this is the perfect time for Texas to take advantage. White told me he loves Todd Orlando, and the job he is doing in Austin. He also has great relationships with the signees, and guys like Jalen Green and Caden Sterns have been working hard on him this week.
— I had a lengthy conversation with Texas offensive line signee Junior Angilau about his faith and football for a feature I am working on. It was pretty cool to hear his perspective since I’m not religious, and he gave me a ton of background on his beliefs as well as his aspirations to help people. From what I was able to gather, Angilau is leaning towards enrolling at Texas. He knows there is an opportunity to play early, and he is thinking about joining the missionaries and working around Austin. He would then take his mission with his future spouse later in life. Angilau hopes to make a final decision soon.
— We checked in with some sources on defensive lineman Daniel Carson, who has been pretty pro-Texas on social media. From what we were able to gather, Nebraska, Miami and Texas are the three major players in his recruitment. It still seems like Nebraska holds a slight edge, but Texas is making a strong push and is really moving the needle here. The bad news is Carson has already used his OV to Texas, but Tom Herman and Oscar Giles are doing some great work here.
