Dude stop denying the truth... it's unfortunate it's the truth.

Many African and Carribbean folks from the Civil Rights and Baby Boomer Generation have these preconceived notions on Black American ppl. It's a defense mechanism that they believe will prevent them from having to deal with Systematic Racism but unfortunately it doesn't work and won't ever work.

And the unfortunate is now the children of many of these folks are C00Ning it up so much in today's era that's it sick-a-ing.

That's coming from some who's Dad is Nigerian and my momma is a Foundational Black American. I'm lucky I grew up knowing my heritage on both sides and representing my Black American pride to the fullest.

This is actually sad.
Yes sad that American parents allow there children to do whatever they want and we wonder why we as a nation are a bunch of underachievers compared to the rest of the world.

Maybe if our parents had boundaries (look like we raised you well) kids would respect them more.

Don't they think not letting him get braids is extreme?

Smh you'd think they would be more lenient with that type of stuff in 2022.

I could understand if he were to sag his pants and they got mad at him but braids? Smh.

So I never got braids..plats...or tattoos

Hell they didn't even like me listening to rap music lol

It all makes sense now

It's always deeper than rap when it comes to older Caribbean parents. Never got braids, tats, or piercings simply because of what they represented to my mother

So american white parents are breeding underachievers bc I don't know what black household u visited but culturally speaking u can't do whatever u want in a black run household.
White households are bad as well but they don't have the same physical "flexibility" so it's not a relatable argument.

For example, lil Kevin won't come home one day with plats. It's not socially acceptable.

A lot of Black Americans don't realize that they themselves have a (Western) mindset of superiority. It is a perfectly natural and human thing to develop but it's also comical to read the glaring irony. In the posts roasting the father the unspoken sentiment is "Lose your own culture and convert to our's". As Black Americans with our own developed culture we are proud of and want to continue we should remember that others have their own as well.

Because they try to separate themselves from black Americans.

I’ve had countless friends from the Caribbean tell me how their parents told them to stay away from black Americans.
That’s sad if true.

Way back in high school when I had braids my Haitians homies dad said I wasn't allowed in his crib. Didn't like that I had earrings as well.

n1ggas was poor and lived in a house less nicer than mine. I was far from offended. Plus I turned out better than my homie and all his siblings.

That's not the reason

Haitians are deeply religious to the point where they think irrationally. They think everything is the devil.

Men with Braids = homosexuality = the devil

Not wanting my child to wear certain hairstyles or tattoos and piercings is an example of a PARENT hating his OWN child??

Bruh, I am born and raised in the United States. I am definitely ADOS.

That being said, can you REALLY blame them?

I would have been offended by my own thought process years ago, but at my age now, I get it.

Sure, we have definite exceptions, but our values are definitely going to clash with those of hungry af immigrants, trying to come up.

We're still blaming events our ancestors dealt with, for why we aren't doing better.

So, black folks who are ADOS, and grew up disadvantaged, that made/make something of their lives - are they mutants?

Like what I'm saying or not, but our priorities hold us back more than racism, individually.

When you start talking about collective black progress, that's a whole other discussion. There has absolutely been, and still is, efforts taken to make sure we don't come together as a collective.

However, in this life, you are your no. 1 priority. You can't underachieve because there is opposition to your group. Maybe if we all were stronger individually, it would be harder to stop us as we attempt to come together collectively.

Not the parent hating the child. Not wanting to see black people in black hairstyles can be looked at as self hate. Just to clarify this wasn’t a personal attack. Just stating my opinion.

Your name on here makes it hard to take you serious. As you have the vibe of the Nigerian C00n who got killed by his Becky…. But here goes.

Yes I can blame them. How dare you try to denigrate the people who are the reason you can even immigrate to this county in the first place. I wouldn’t dream of moving to Jamaica and talking down on the people there.

It’s not blaming. Acknowledging history and the system of white supremacy and fighting to replace it with justice is needed.

Your argument seems to be in bad faith with the notion that black Americans aren’t successful at all and we can’t be successful in-spite of white supremacy. Sure we are successful in spite of it but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t fight to replace the system with a system of justice.

Now before we move further can you picture tag and verify you are black. I suspect this is a digital black face account you are on.

I have done so many times and will again if you want.
