I think the idea is that the mainstream is so sickening that majority of people would love a cleanse, so the genre can be refaced and brought back with more substance and less of what is pushed today.

well you're entitled to think this although i disagree. i think kendrick would say that you are giving drake too much credit in this post. that drake isnt self aware, rather the opposite. that he is a troubled human that is fake and isnt aware of who he is or or what he's become. kendrick and drake have never done the same thing, that's the divide. they've went in different directions as rappers and as people (in kendrick's eyes). sh1t marvin's room is the example of how they are different. and drake's influence with this in mind is the concern, but also just part of the bigger issue, the issue addressed in songs like we have here
