NY people are delusional 4700 a month is a really nice house somwhere else with a home theater and pool. They think they can make it living in NY. The city doesnt offer sh1t but overpriced rent and crime.
I can bet she is not from NYC maybe LI or upstate chasing that s3x in the city life but not NYC. Yall love generalizing sh1t and grouping people that live in nyc together when there's a difference between transplants and native new yorkers. Native New yorkers mostly live in harlem and the outer boroughs. sh1t a lot of us move over the bridge to jersey we are not paying no damn 4700.

Yea I do NOT understand why people live in NY on purpose.
NY is amazing socially and has the most things to do of arguably any city in the world. Something for everyone

No disrespect but NY got way too many rats and roaches to pay anything that you can pay a mortgage in. Making 100k in NY isnt much when you have to have roommates to live in a decent building.

I just don't understand the city living. Maybe if you're in your early 20s or work in the finance market or artist. But raising a family f@getaboutit

Just move to what spot has what you want.

I’m glad. I hope they keep raising the rent. These people move here and want to live in certain areas, drive the prices up when the apartments aren’t worth anywhere near what they are willing to pay. So I’m glad he’s forcing her to over pay because he knows these dumb transplants will pay just to say they live in nyc.

You absolutely can, they probably live in an old a$s apartment in a nice genttified area. Wburg, les, LIC, the village are full of old overpriced apartments. The idea you can't live in NYC in a nice place for what they're even currently paying is a lie.
Okay I get that, but $4700/month for a place that’s mediocre, seems ridiculous unless you making like 10-20k/month. Even if I’m making 10k per month, I’d still be pissed paying something that high.

having to share an already small space, that has cockroaches and rats.

Ain’t no way I’d sign up for that.

I can somewhat understand the appeal of southern Cali but to pay those prices to live anywhere in the northeast is crazy to me.

Ain't no reason to tolerate the level of filth and squalor in many parts of NYC.

If you're making 20k a month why would you tolerate living like that?

I've never lived in such fu#ked up circumstances. The worst I had were roaches the last time I lived in apartment and that was for a few months (the roaches left with Indian neighbors

). And I wasn't paying 3k, nor did I have a roomate.

I would never, which is the point of my posts.

If I’m paying something like $4700/month to rent a spot? That bi#ch better be brand new & have a hot tub/jacuzzi, garage, 3-5 BRs, finished basement and a decent backyard.

I want peace of mind and comfort at my home, ain’t no way I’d settle for some apartment, in general.

i've lived in many apartments across brooklyn and manhattan and have never lived in a filthy apartment or even seen a mouse inside

tiktok isn't real life and of course the gross sh1t gets more attention but do you really think that's representative of all 8.5 million people's experiences? it's wild how social media robs people of their common sense

that chinese food at 3am sh1t is something only suburbanites think is cool - very telling that of all the culture nyc provides their imagination is only capable of thinking about late night food

i'm sure the middle of nowhere hometown you were never ambitious enough to leave is a great place to live - why not make a thread about it?

Just goes to show NY is maxed out to such a degree you can legitimately charge 5000 for a rat invested whole in the wall.

I hope to never have to visit the place ever again.

Texas is spread out though and lots of driving. NY is more for the 20s crowd, after your 20s doesn’t make much sense to live there
