There is nothing in both games that we haven’t seen before
Nothing
With each area outside of scripted events you have a strong idea of what you’ll see
Even the UI tells the player everything and leaves little to the imagination before you can even explore on your own
Their design is extremely dated and boring
There’s no one in the industry or player base that sees other games and says “I wish these games were more like God of War or Ghost of Tsushima”
They were designed to be safe, but safe is boring
Idk I don't think there's too many games that compare to GoW in the sense that you'd be able to even ask for them to be more like GoW. It's not a brand new, groundbreaking genre or anything, but I can't think of anything recently that's particularly comparable to the experience you get in GoW, it's obviously an Action Adventure, but it sort of found it's own lane within the genre. GoT obviously has a lot of comparison but I think it blows them all out of the water.
I hadn't ever seen anything like the wind guide in GoT, I thought that was a really great touch. and I think the things we have seen before, GoT did much better than the comparable games (duels, stealth, combat).
The only open-world climber I've seen that comes close to being as beautiful as GoT is HFW, but I still think I prefer GoT's world just as a matter of style. And I like how much control they give the player over the presentation. You can tell they knew they made a really good looking game and gave you the option to experience it with a super bare-bones HUD and no minimap. I think something that gets underrated is how even without a robust HUD you don't feel handicapped at all. You don't really need a minimap with the wind guide. I think one of my biggest takeaways from GoT was how the collectibles didn't seem like a chore because you'd just happen to come across them as you were riding around enjoying the map and make a little detour.
But yeah, open-world climbers all around suffer from a lack of variety in their quests. It's either a fetch quest, a stealth quest, or a fight quest. Which is why I preferred the collectibles in GoT so much more because they added some variety with the platforming.
