Jcole is straight. But he’s just kind of there.
Nothing too great. Good consistent music.
He nice rapper.
But his music is just kind of there.
It’s funny how dudes be like they don’t hear certain music in the hood etc..
jcole is kind of on that borderline. You hear it but not very much.
Maybe on college campus etc..

This post is very accurate. only thing I dont agree with you saying is he's a "nice" rapper. J Cole is top 3 in todays hiphop industry when we talk all around. its been him, kendrick and drake for the past decade now. They're what id call top tier artist of this generation.

but youre point on about him not having that appeal in the hood. J Cole never made trap music. trap music and mudra music (NBA YB) is the type of music you gonna hear in the hood. you gotta be a certain type of n1gga, with a certain intellect to connect with Cole's music.

I remember my sophomore year of college, I was listening to alot of trap/drill music. I knew the name J Cole but I always thought he was overrated to me. I had a buddy I'd do sound engineering for and he tried to put me on to Cole and I remember telling him it was "meh". lol, this guy went all out to persuade me otherwise. I wasnt persuaded and still wasnt fw Coles music. then 2013 came around and I had another friend who actually bought a "Born Sinner" CD. Me and that guy would chill, work on music, blaze etc... and every time we went out, he'd have that CD or French Montana CD playin. I became somewhat a fan but not really a fan like that. Then 2014 came around and 2014FDH caught me and made me a real fan of Cole. That album is damn near perfect.

You gotta really listen to music for meaning to appreciate Cole's work.
