I can't really relate because I didn't ride the bus growing up in the 90's, and likely I (we) would have had a tape player instead of a CD player anyway, but that's one reason why MP3 players were so great. I never had an iPod, but I had a Zune and a Creative Zen Micro. It really couldn't hold that many songs though because they were like 5-10 GB.
