If it has roaches, rats and you worried about floods why you wanna live there?

Just move and call it a win but making a video ain’t gon make the landlord change their mind
Its not that simple. This is happening everywhere, but its way worse in NYC. She might have to completely change her life in order to find a decent apartment in her range. And next year they will be hiking the rent at that spot as well.

She bout to end up in some Brooklyn projects in a few years.

The problem with a lot of housing and landlords is that there’s really no regulation to be a landlord. Y the only way to get problems like rats and roaches and all of that fixed is to constantly be going to court and then the landlords start retaliating to get you out. All rentals should be required to do pest control at least once a year of not every six months, be required to have the place inspected every year, and not just a walk through either, in my city they mostly just come and check the fire alarms and nothing else. There should also be a limit to the amount of rent a place can charge given the area and size of the house/apartment. This would eliminate a lot of slumlords who do the bare minimum. And it’s not always so easy to just move to another place. Most people are already living way beyond their means and that doesn’t include people recklessly spending. The whole system is fu#ked up in this country, from top to bottom. This country needs a complete overhaul and reset.

Most markets where 4700 a month for a nice crib don’t pay as much as NYC. I know cashiers of Lowes Home Improvement living much better quality of life in Greensboro, NC than folks with glorious professions in the NYC
People in NYC should just move out.

$4700 a month for rats as roommates and picking roaches out of the cereal in the morning is not what’s up.

You absolutely can, they probably live in an old a$s apartment in a nice genttified area. Wburg, les, LIC, the village are full of old overpriced apartments. The idea you can't live in NYC in a nice place for what they're even currently paying is a lie.

Rent is overpriced everywhere. All the landlords are getting over. Then you gotta make 3 times the monthly rent so people either gonna need roommates or start making bank. But the price is increasing in areas where opportunities to make a certain amount of bread aren’t located. Something will give for the people though. I just don’t have an answer in my mind.

I used to be a landlord. I kept my rent the same for my tenants for years. They didn’t want to leave. Just take care of my sh1t. I know it’s tempting to do the money grab with everything going up. But I doubt I would do that sh1t if I still had my two properties now. Not anything stupid. Just isn’t in me.

Sum bad need to happen to landlords and property management companies that do this sh1t.
It already did. None of their tenants paid rent for a year and a half while collecting free government money and spending it on things like sneakers and cars they can’t afford to maintain now

Of course these landlord on a revenge tour
