Yep. The quarterback from my middle school team was supposed to be a future star. Everyone assumed that he was going to be NC States next big time quarterback. Even teachers talked about him getting a scholarship there. Everyone assumed it was a done deal
Junior year of high school comes around and he’s still 5’8. He was starting at QB at some private school but the coach eventually benched him for some 6’4 freshman (who ended up playing at South Carolina). The dude transferred to a prep school, and never got any offers. Ended up walking on at Campbell University, got switched to WR and was never heard from again. Never saw the field there.
He had all of the charisma and skills, but never grew. He neglected school because he thought he was a sure thing. Now he’s living in Canada as a salesman. I suspect he went up there because short quarterbacks don’t get looked over. He tried to play ball at one of those Canadian colleges but clearly it didn’t work out

my boy Kregg Lumpkin peaked height in 8th grade, but he still made it to NFL cuz he was talented as fu#k. only played like 3 or 4 years tho. he played at stephenson same time reggie ball was the star quarterback in 8th grade.
Played against Archie griffin son and took my official visit in college with him ..Adam griffin …he was always good from little league but didn’t really develop in size ..stayed around 5’8 185 but played rb and corner ..ended up at osu but didn’t really play much & it’s assumed he got that offer cuz of his pops cuz the rest of his offers were mac , big east, and mountain west offers .

Football is weird, some positions size doesn’t matter at all, it’s just if you keep decomposing technique , speed , strength . Like running back size really a big issue if you have elite vision , quickness , lateral agility …corner is more technique than size but obviously size can be an Advantage …

In this kids situation , he looks stocky already and muscular ..idk how much more height he will get but He will gain weight …maybe end up bein a fleet footed d-lineman

I always think of young Hercules... and how he turn into a fat lazy adult.. definitely no hate on non of these rating talented kids but thats about as long as it last.. is childhood. Some people don't ever get that so props to them.

I was just thinking about it from a point of as long as I can remember those 3 always stuck out to me. I know there are others but those 3 seem like they have been top 5 (or so) for the longest.

Yea man it’s VERY rare …literally every DOG player I remember from little league or middle school eventually burned out , everybody caught up to them, reached their peak athleticism in their youth , or injuries caught up to them . That’s why Derrick Henry so special , his whole career documented and he dominated every step of it .
