Josh Hart wanted 18M's too but settled for the 12M

I don't usually play fantasy GM but I could see an 80/90M contract thrown at IQ with incentives (that could bring it closer to that 100M over time)

Anyway...last year was IQ's "I'm getting the hang of things" season if you ask me...

He's still only 24 and not in his prime...ball handling, shot creation, shot selection and especially his defense were heavily improved...

My guess is either we keep him & he gets resigned or he eventually goes in a trade...
Hart opted in to help the team in free agency, he gonna sign his extension this August.

And if he wants a nine figure deal over FOUR years, you already know it’s MORE than 100M. But let’s say hypothetically that it was 4yr/100M , that’s an AAV of $25 million per year.

I already see what the play is going to be … IQ’s team (Roc Nation) is going to come to the table with all these metrics and analytics… they’re going to mention his outstanding defense… etc. They’re going to use RJ Barrett’s extension from last year as a measuring stick ..


But in defense of Barrett, Barrett is

- Younger

- Taller

- Full time starter since day one

- Better playoff performer


Barrett’s contract was always going to have a higher ceiling than Quickley’s

It's just to keep money off the books this year. Philly only has two people under contract next season, Maxey gonna get the max they could give him next off season

AKA they will package him in a Dame trade if it comes down to it,


Like I’ve said before, if a team doesn’t give you a rookie extension as soon as free agency starts, then that means they’re hesitant at giving you a deal.


It makes no sense to alienate their emerging star , when you can give him his money right now. Why make him wait & risk injury?

I would be against giving 100 mill to hart and thats not 20 mill a year its 25 or better for IQ. Need to see what the market is dictating for role players on Hart level if its 100 I'm wit it but I think him opting in is the knicks promising to take care of him maybe 18 per over 3-4 years.
