Nah he can make that claim right now & that’s not any hypebeast sh1t.
-One of the best live performers in music history, never mind hip hop.
-Diss song went #1 on billboard
-Headlining the Super Bowl halftime as a solo rap act
-Highest grossing tour in hip hop history as a solo act
-Has at least 3 classic albums with varying themes & productions that is vastly different than the last while balancing substance and fun.
People called Big the GOAT off 2 albums and 3 years of rapping but people can’t do it for Kendrick right now who has an immaculate body of work and is getting better? Nah I don’t wanna hear it.
Those people saying Big the GOAT too are also wrong imo... Been wrong... Same as Pac....2 albums or 2 years (in Pac's case) of being amazing ain't cutting it...don't make shadow arguments for things I didn't say.
Diss song on billboard/superbowl/or even pulitzer that others have deserved doesn't move me one bit. The pulitzer yes, but that's because white folks were now ready to acknowledge hip hop...I can name at least 5 rappers deserving pulitzers...
Lol@ AT LEAST 3 classics...yeah ok n1gga... That's gonna be subjective, but to me he has exactly 3 and one that I'll never go back and listen to in full with (TPAB), but I still acknowledge it as a classic because it ain't just about me. Section 80 and GKMC are the classics I'm always gonna go back to. Damn ain't a classic...neither is the last one.
And yes, he's definitely one of the best performers ever and the best I've seen in rap.
However, his impact on the music and the game is VERY VERY light for someone as talented and accomplished as he is. For all he has done, he didn't create a wave of rappers who wanted to do conscious music in the market nor did the market/game shift based on the music he made, nor did people start making concept albums like that. I'm not talking about skills...even if u think he's the best rapper, to me he can't be greatest with those unchecked boxes of actually impacting the music. Tbh, Kanye and Wayne especially impacted the game more and neither are better than him. Drake kind of did too and he's nowhere as good.
With all said about actual musical product, skills, AND impact, he's still running significantly behind Nas, Jay, and Wayne imo....it would take A LOT more impact to surpass especially Nas and Jay... The only clear edge he has over the GOAT nas is the performance angle (which is only one aspect under the skills umbrella)...in terms of impact , it's not even close...
