Noticed this white spot on my 4k Samsung TV. Time to buy a new TV or just live with it?

Itís not as bad as others Iíve seen online, but itís still noticeable and it bothers me. I heard itís one of the diffuser lenses on the backlight falling out.

Iíve had this TV for over 8 years. Never had any issues and been happy so quite disappointed.

Not sure if itís worth trying to repair or worth the money to buy a new one?

Would you just live with it?

From what I hear it's never worth trying to repair a TV. If you don't like it just buy a new one

n1gga posting pics of a white spot on a bright background. Put on a scary movie that's mostly dark and take a pic. I can't even see what he's talking about unless he circles it

UPDATE:

Said fu#k it and dropped 2 stacks at Costco on a A80CL 65” OLED.

Man this my first OLED. Obviously in my honeymoon phase, but I think it’s safe to say I will never go back. Straight fire.

Glad I got Sony. Worth the extra few hundred bucks just for the sound, smooth interface, and Dolby. Can’t believe I been missing I out all these years. So happy. Hopefully I won’t have to deal with white spots on this one later down the road.

Also, took it off the wall mount and gonna get a TV stand for it soon. My last sh1t in pictures above was way too high. Can’t believe how dumb I was not lowering that earlier.

Gave away the TV with white spot to my brother.

Appreciate all the game fam

Samsung makes the worst fu#kin TVs. My TV is doing something similar. I’ll never buy another Samsung TV

Even when the TVs work, the colors are too vivid. Their TVs look like liquor store windows

I donít think itís that bad. Like you said in your other post, Iíd maybe upgrade the size but thatís a personal choice. I moved my 60 inch to my bedroom and bought a 75 for the living room.
75 is huge. I heard with TVs though, bigger is always better always (pause).

No regrets right?

I just called a repair shop near me. He said it will cost $200 to replace all the strips. Pretty common problem he said and it will be like new. He said more will eventually fall off.

I guess my issue is would it just be better to buy a new one instead.

Trying to get a black background, but doesnít really show up after I darkened the brightness and other settings.

It was hella noticeable with my older picture settings I had brightness all the way up.

I own all 3 samsung sony and LG and the two most prefered are 1 the Sony and then 2 the LG. The Samsungs are the tvs left in the living room for the kids to use everyone who has seen them always say the Sony looks better.
Although the samsung is older and LCD the other two are OLED so i would say yes they are better. Not sure i can go back to LCD after using OLED. Same could probably said if you go with QLED you wont want to try anything else.

Sony A80J
LG C1
Samsung 2018 LCD

You're arguing semantics. Samsung Display is Samsung.
emoji

And no, Sony uses Samsung's displays as I said.

The Sony A95L is the successor to last year's award-winning A90L QD-OLED TV, and it uses Samsung Display's second-generation QD-OLED panel with improved color volume and higher peak brightness.

↪🔗

SonyĎs new 4K Bravia XR A95K TV panel is made by none other than Samsung Display.

↪🔗

It should be mentioned that both Samsung and Sony use panels made by Samsung Displayóa subsidiary of Samsung Electronics.

↪🔗

Under the hood, weíve got Sonyís very best processor and the second-gen QD-OLED panel made by Samsung Display.

↪🔗

Ya'll dudes just be arguing over nothing.
emoji
its a bit different
none of you really know what your are talking about

samsung display is a OEM
meaning that some else does the engineering and they are subcontracted for the build

its link apple and Han Hai(foxxconn)
Han Hai's phone are different than IPhones
even though they make both

and even though they make both they legally cant use any of apple's engineering patents in their tech

same deal as Magna Steryr
they are a OEM car builder for jaguar, mercedes and fisker
they are all built at the same plant but absolutely nothing is similar in platform

Samsung is a conglomerate like Han Hai
just because it shares the same name doesnt mean it shares the same division

U need to get a new one asap. Those kinds of spots produce radiation that is terrible for small children and pets. I will be a nice guy and take that off your hands for $200. It will fit perfectly in my kids room.

Yes but not as often. They also use different technology for backlighting

I worked at magnolia while I went to college and Samsung and LG TVs are defective at a 5:1 rate compared to Sony. In fact Samsung got kicked out of CES a few years back for trying to steal Sonys tech

Well I've had Samsung for years and realized that it depends on the model, I will say Sony are die hards tho they stand the test of time out of four Samsung's I've had two problems and the extended warranty got me thru nice....I like Samsung cause it's easy to stream from my phone cause I have Samsung phones....but I think Sony has the better picture overall

Bro I saw this picture and went to link ↪🔗 because your tv is definitely too high.

I clicked the link and saw that your tv was the first post.

What an insanely small world wtf. Like what are the odds?
Haha yea I am stumped man so figure I ask there to. At first it was a TV issue, and then I realized just my whole setup is just terrible.

I got roasted hard in there

Humbled me quick.

Iím not surprised though. You know what is trippy is seeing a video on YouTube and then immediately seeing a post on Boxden about that same video. The algorithms are crazy.

Who you have for cellphone service. I have AT&T and added home tech protection $25/ month covers all electronics in house. Had a check cut for new tv and had AirPods Pro max and my elite controller replaced. Best investment. Iím sure other carriers have alternatives. No receipts required

You end up getting another Samsung?

I am torn. Some people say Sony has the best TVs and Samsung is trash, but others say the complete opposite.

I bought a Hisense h9g a few years ago from Best Buy and I never get warranties but something told me to get the geek squad bs. Fast forward a year later and I have vertical dots on my screen where I guess a row of backlight went out, not bad, I have to point it out to people and only noticeable on a blank canvas.

Call geek squad, buddy comes out, I’m straight up with him and tell him I’m just looking to get my money back and get a better TV. He hooks me up and says the panel isn’t repairable and the tv needed to be thrown out. Best Buy reimbursed me and I bought a Sony x90j. I love the Sony 4k120. Hisense is now the bedroom tv. I’ll be buying TVs through Best Buy going forward.

Sony is the way to go they use better processing but you gotta also compare models that go against each other vs the other brands. I would go with Sony 90 series and higher.

Tizen is slow and meh now compared to Google TV

Samsung tvs do get really bright but I don’t like how they use the backlighting system compared to Sony on the LCD TVs.
