...your standard week-end warrior who can hoop really damn well?

Just had a conversation with two of my younger cousins, and they don't believe dudes like Dame, Kyrie, and Steph can be but so much better than other dudes who are nice of the same size, because they have no real size and athletic advantages.

I can actually understand why they feel that way, because it's hard to look at an averaged size hooper and think he's out of this world, as opposed to dudes like Bronze, Giannis, KD, etc... who look like they could out-size and out-athletic motherfu#kers.

i dont think we can truly fathom how much work athletes put into their craft, specifically to become professional at it.

lou williams said in an interview that since ive seen it stuck with me because ive never really thought of it and i think he was referencing something similar to what you are talking about

"we are professional basketball players, we play when we don't want to play". it's simple i know but it shows you the type of mindset you have to have to truly be successful not just in basketball but in pretty much anything. couple that with being genetic anomalies helps create the recipe of what you see on tv being way greater than what you see at an LA fitness

I've played against C and D level nba talent and they are unstoppable against regular players at your local LA fitness or whatever gym you play at. To this day Gerald Henderson is one of the strongest players I've ever played against. I remember thinking to myself if he is this strong I couldn't imagine how strong guys like Giannis, LeBron, etc are. Those players are strong enough to bully Gerald and Gerald was at LA fitness bullying the hell out of every player there with ease!!

Most n1ggas are out of touch with reality.

I’ve heard grown men claim it’s magnets on the rims in the NBA and that’s what makes guys like Curry look so great shooting the ball.

The ski1l level between a starting and back up Qb is more impressive. One player going down can ki1l the entire season for a team

Fair enough, but it's obvious that many people have a hard time grasping that level ability because it's so far removed from their lives.

Dudes see 6'3" and under guys all the time, and it's just hard to image someone can be all-world at that size, for some people .... when they have no ridiculous athletic advantages.

Like I said, nobody even pretends they can beat someone like KD. He don't look beatable by an average Joe. That's just an example.
Nba pgs are still taller than the average joe

Kyrie and steph are not little people

You really don’t realize how big guys like Steph and Kyrie are until you get some decent seats at a NBA game…get some seats by the tunnel and you realize

I played against Darrell Armstrong back in the early 2000s at a local rec. Dude was handing out buckets like he was on a fisher price goal. And this was just before he retired

What? Have any of them actually seen an actual NBA game in person? Try shooting a fu#king NBA 3 and seeing how “easy” it is.. Im assuming these n1ggas never played? You have a lot more respect if you were an athlete for 1, and for 2 if you actually played the given sport..,

I had floor seats when Anthony Davis and Boogie Cousins were playing for the Pelicans. It was shocking seeing both of them in person.

n1ggas that hardly get off the bench and go to summer leagues and look like Jordan. Think about all the really good players in the g league that can't get a roster spot in the nba. NBA level talent is a different type of breed

The 12th man on a G-League squad would absolutely wreck the best player your younger cousins know.

As somebody who's played with and against players who have played for D1, D3 colleges, Overseas, NBA prospects and players who were on their way to the league I can tell you it's things that they know or know how to do in every facet of the game that "Average" joes just aren't privy to. They know how to work angles, use their body weight in certain ways on both ends of the court.

The best way I can put it into words is imagine you go to a cla$s and it's test day. There are some people in that cla$s who have a cheat sheet, there are some people in the cla$s who have most of the answers already memorized and then there are people in there who helped write the damn test. Those people I just named are the college players, the overseas players, the NBA players. You are the person trying to take the test based on what they studied or learned the 2 weeks prior to the test lol.

The overseas cats and college players I've played against I held me own but their conditioning and fundamental base was so strong that I had to exert maximum energy to keep up with them going at half speed.

The pro prospects...forget about it. It was like I wasn't even there on defense and when I had the rock they had little tricks to turn me so I couldn't get to spots I wanted to get to and they could see things way before they developed or happened.

I've played against/with women's college bball players too.... sh1t aint as sweet with them as y'all think especially the bigs

Work out with one and you’ll see

I did the sand dunes with an nba player

Bro was barefoot going up and down the hill which is at least 100 feet

I was huffing and bent over falling trying ask him diet questions

Dude never once was breathing hard nor did he stop until he was ready to go. Because of him I was inspired and got to the point I could do it 14 times as my workout. Took about an hour too.

One day I got that natural high mid workout…, saw the sun in another light from the top. The high that I experienced was pure bliss. No idea how to duplicate it.

People just don’t understand things their job and they have the best everything possible to assist.

I lived around the corner from Clarence Ceasar for a couple years when I was 14-15 years old. Ceasar played at LSU about 10 years before with Shaq and is top 20 all-time scoring at the school. He didn't last long enough in the league for his stats to even be able to be found on the internet without extensive research.

But we had a huge driveway and a basketball goal at that house, and he used to come and hoop with me and my little brother from time to time. We both were pretty good AAU players, and I was 6' tall at the time. But this dude would come through in slides and flip flops and consistently smoke us without even trying. That sh1t was humbling and gave me a respect for professional athletes early on. And even though I played varsity sports since freshman year, that sh1t made my a$s focus on academics because if he washed out of the league, that dream was probably out of my reach. 5 or 6 years later, I gave And1 n1ggas about 20 at an exhibition. Them dudes were easy money compared to Ceasar.

Another one... I played tight end in football and could block or shake just about anybody. But this one defensive end in my city was so strong that I still remember his strength 20+ years later. I even heard another n1gga from the city talking about how strong this mf was when he had to block him. That dude never even set foot on an NFL field, though. Pro talent is head and shoulders above the average joe.

If you live in Richmond and hoop, you've played pickup/pro am ball with Ben Wallace, Charles Oakley, etc.

Ben Wallace airballed FTs on the NBA

Ben Wallace hits 25 ft 3s at a +50% clip in pro am games against D1 players. And he usually runs PG for his squad lmao.

Seeing Jamal Crawford at a pro-am is absolutely incredible too. If you thought he had a bag in the pros then you have no idea what he can do against an amateur
