Something I see on download sites all the time is people saying how 'fast' their internet is, and them complaining and wondering why the downloads are so slow...The reason why is that you can be paying a stupid amount of money for 'fast' internet all you want, but if the servers that websites and sh*t are hosted on are slow, overcrowded and dont have a redundant amount of bandwidth, then how 'fast' your internet is wont matter. Thats just you being limited by host servers and not what ridiculously expensive internet plan you bought. It isnt the same as your sh*t getting capped and throttled back after using a certain amount of GBs, because that is entirely an ISP issue.
Fortunately Im aware and understand that, so I dont care about 5Gbps. Something like 5Gbps is intended for web hosts and commercial use. So its funny but not surprising how ISPs are offering that to the general public, because Ive seen so many like I mentioned above that bought plans way less than 5Gbps for a long damn time, and even that was overkill resulting in frustration and wasted money until randoms on the internet like myself tell them a bit about how sh*t works. ![]() ![]() Frontier is staking claim to an industry-first, rolling out the first nationwide 5 gig internet service in the US. Frontier is one of the major players in the US internet provider market, with a strong focus on rural communities. The company launched its 2 gig nationwide internet service less than a year ago and is now set to top that feat. “We set a standard with network-wide 2 Gig internet last year, and now we’ve done it again,” said John Harrobin, Frontier’s Executive Vice President of Consumer “Our 5 Gig offer meets the growing demand for multi-gig speeds and delivers the ‘un-cable’ experience by making the fastest upload and download speeds available throughout our fiber network.” The new plan costs “$154.99 a month with autopay and includes uncapped data + Wi-Fi router + free installation + premium tech support.” |
