Strong Cyberpunk sales drive record Q3 financial results for CD Projekt
THE GAME HAD A RESURGENCE FOLLOWING A MAJOR UPDATE AND THE LAUNCH OF A NETFLIX TIE-IN SHOW

Strong Cyberpunk 2077 sales helped drive record third quarter financial results for CD Projekt, the company announced on Monday.

The open-world RPG saw a spike in player numbers in September coinciding with the launch of its major 1.6 patch, a half-price discount on Steam, and the release of Netflix’s anime series Cyberpunk Edgerunners.

CD Projekt claimed in September that the game was attracting over one million players daily and that it had surpassed 20 million sales – up from 18 million reported by the company in April.

This resurgence helped the company achieve record results for its third financial quarter ended on September 30, CD Projekt said today.

“In terms of financials, this was the best third quarter in our entire history. With consolidated revenues at 246 million PLN [$54.6m]– mostly owing to strong sales of Cyberpunk–the Group posted 99 million PLN [$21.3m] in net profit,” said chief financial officer Piotr Nielubowicz.

“This translates into a net profitability of 40% for the whole Group, and a whopping 47% for the CD Projekt Red segment.

“We carry on with intensive development work on the Cyberpunk expansion, as well as on other projects,” he added.

Cyberpunk 2077’s first and only expansion, Phantom Liberty, will be released for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in 2023.

In October, CD Projekt Red outlined its development slate for the foreseeable future, including a Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, a new trilogy of Witcher games, Witcher spin-offs, and the studio’s first original IP.

More recently, CD Projekt confirmed it’s working on a “full-fledged remake” of the original The Witcher game using Unreal Engine 5.

Following several delays and a change of developer, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s new-gen update will be released on December 14 as a standalone purchase for PC, Xbox Series X/S and PS5, and as a free update for players who already own the game on PC and last-gen consoles.

same way no mans land and sea of thieves n state of decay and fall out 76 become decent to good games after they kept pluggin and what anthem should have done instead of abandoning the game altogether...

im still playing the demo and other than the wonky shooting, it so far seems captivating to say the least, although the graphics dont blow me away (never thought they would) but i like the aesthetic

i thought it was wack the first maybe, 10 minutes in

it turned out as one of my favorite games of all time

Maybe developers should just release finished product and skip the year of terrible buzz

I still don't like the fact that again cdpr dropped a buggy piece of sh*t and then when it is $20 they finally fixed it up.

A big fu*k you to the early consumers, never buying another one of their games in the first year.

I had it since day 1.

Too buggy on ps4 so I sat on it. When i finally copped a 5 a tried a lil bit but stopped once elden ring hit. Decided to just wait on ps5 patch. Picked it back up since and been pretty dope so far

this sh*t bricked my ps4 when it came out so i returned it.

copped it again for £17 brand new when the next gen update came out but still haven't played it. i really want to tho i just don't have time

Shouldn't take 2yrs for a game to finally be playable especially when it was announced during the ps3/360 life cycle. Canceled my pre order after they took 3rd person away. What's the point of all that character customization if you can't even see them. It was no then & still no now

Your gameplay style makes this game look wack and boring.

This game is cold as fu*k. I just copped the GoW PS5 and finally got this too after waiting so long. Been playing this more than GoW, and I loved Gow 2018

Yeah played it a little bit when I first got my 5 but it was still pretty buggy right around the time you first meet up with Panam so I put it on hold while I ran through other games.

It’s the very top of my backlog though after GOW. If only just to give it a second look and see how the update fares.

It should of just came out this year with 1.6 and they would of been straight, but that's a totally different topic for another time.

Edgerunners was a great show, but I cant get into the game. They should make a 3rd person version.

I still feel sour as to how we were all lied to and sold something different than what was promised. I won't let it slide since, guaranteed if EA was involved mfs on here would be agreeing with you.

My PS4 was never the same after I played cyberpunk when it launched after that it started overheatingand shutting down with big games like call of duty and rdr2 it did that till I got rid of it but I loved that game actually replaying right now when I'm not getting my a*s whooped in front of my son in Ragnarok

but i only started playing it like 2-3 months ago i wanna jumo back in cause i liked the immersion and story. gun play was a bit wonky but maybe as you upgrade it gets better

Want a multiplayer mode with world immersion. Can buy nightclubs and sh*t like gta and run it. If no one visits your club it goes bankrupt. Should also be a gathering place people can interact and meet new friends virtually

as someone who has worked in the software industry for 10+ years, its not on devs. I work in software testing. It be the higher ups that want to push out a product that is gonna have to be rushed. They be wanting the bells and whistles but want it in an unreasonable amount of time. Devs can only do what they can. They dont make those kind of calls. Hell most devs would rather sit on it and finish it bc it means less work fixing sh*t in the long run.

I commend them for going the No Man Sky route and making the game better over time, but just like with NMS and I was one of the first adopters (on PC) and now I want to care but I just don't.

Deep down, I'm like damn....this how the games should of have been from the jump.

I've already put in 20 or 30 hours and finished it, I'm looking forward to new sh*t coming out down the horizon now.

Let’s be honest. All the criticisms we have about every game. From getting a million delays to shipping with bugs (lol) to not delivering promised features to have p*ss poor AI etc.

All apply to this game.

i dont blame any one who feels that way, but what i do see them doing is listening to the community. adding the subway system. fixing the cops, the pop ins.

they did not live up to expectations, the devs knew it but the higher ups pushed them.. not the devs fault, their hands were tied.

but if they fix all those issues, open up the map more.. and i dont mind a live service. cyberpunk really should have no end and basically be their version of gta online.

just keep making sequels.. the witcher and cyberpunk universes have alot of potential to expand the lure and the medium.
