After watching Shang chi, they could do it. Hardest parts of DBZ are 2 things: making super Saipan not look idiotic and the hair styles. Also anime dialogue is pretty cringeyat least in English. All that charging up for 5 hours, villains announcing their master plan on some goofy I fooled you, this ain’t even my final form yet would be terrible on screen and lastly characters shouting names for the attacks could either go really well or really bad. That’s a trademark of DBZ but could end up very very goofy

it's not a horrible decision business-wise.

dragonball z is a pretty big intellectual property with a global multi-generational fanbase. most likely the 1st anime that the majority of black people really started fu*king with.

you have the built in fanbase...make the rating acceptable for kids/families for the maximum audience size...some stars who draw crowds...that asian international market appeal...and that disney promotional machine behind it? could easily be a hit.

I believe that's the case. Long ago Ghost in the shell rights was at Disney. I remember that because I viewed the actual Japanese theatrical film print of "Innocence", and Disney was part of the production committee. Then somehow Paramount Pictures made the movie (2017- Live Action). So either rights lapsed or Disney made a deal with Paramount and exchanged for Marvel rights or something.

Makes sense. I have almost lost all connection to Dragon Ball i used to pick up some of the new manga when I was still learning Japanese and I remember there was a big promo push with the first movie when they had blue hair but I tapped out on that sh*t and the peak for me is the history of trunks.

But I went to see nope on imax last month and as soon as that sh*t ended they got ready to show one piece and hella people were lined up. I don’t get it. When i was a kid watching fox kids and one piece came on it meant it’s time to go outside and play that sh*t was so goofy style but fu*k people love their never ending animes here in Japan and back west that’s what i get requested to send my folks back west the most dbz sh*t.
