Just got back from watching it..

Chapter 1 I rate a solid 9/10...
Chapter 2 I rate 6/10...

Too much talking/building up of the story n not enough pennywise imo..

Saw it earlier tonight. Thought it was okay. Not as entertaining as the first imo. Definitely had its bright spots but I think I set my expectations too high after seeing the first chapter.

movie was alright. the first one felt so new, fresh, and original. this one closes out the story but from a horror movie perspective, it reuses a lot of the same scare concepts of the first one, making the movie a lot less creepy and much more.... predictable. also had a lot more comedy than i thought it would. it's worth a watch at least once, but doesn't top the first one.

Saw it yesterday in IMAX. Gotta admit I was a little underwhelmed.

Still a good movie it's just hard to followup after chapter 1.

6/10

It should've been better. I walked out rather disappointed, but it wasn't a bad movie by any means. A little too much humor for me as well. Idk I guess I just wasnt feeling it like the first.

Saw it tonight. Really loved the first one so I had high expectations. This did not disappoint. I left feeling satisfied. It did everything the first one did. It had very scary moments, it had some intense suspense, a lot of humor and a powerful ending. If anything I would say the last 20 minutes or so I felt the movie was dragging or I just wasn't used to watching movies that are almost 3 hours long (typical movie is 90 minutes). After it's all said and done I think this movie complimented the first one really good.

I really enjoyed the movie, but that's maybe because I'm more into adventure than I am horror. It felt like the same vibe as Stranger Things. Like Lovecraftian horror than gore.

See it last night.
Was a little more intense than the first because the sh*t was consistent. First and second half play beautifully. Can see they kinda hit a roadblock n the climax tho and it’s difficult af to properly tell that ending but they did a decent job. I enjoyed it and I’m taking my kids to see it this weekend. Bill Hader was also fu*king amazing.

I loved it. Like i said in another thread, it was entertaining. Can't take it too serious as it's just horror/fantasy so the plot is already out there to begin with.

I gave it a 8/10 but it would of been a 9/10 like chapter 1 but that ending was wild weak. Also, they should of explained Pennywise's origin a tad bit more. I hate movies where aliens just pop out of nowhere and don't explain what, who or why, which is what i kinda got out of this movie. They touched on it a little but i still wanna know wtf he really was/is.

And is it me or did they hint that the ending was gonna be wack? They kept referring to bill's wack endings in the movie

Also, you have that love that meta-joke about people loving the book but hating the ending.

I have a feeling we'll be hearing a lot of that about this one too.

Not bad but not great either. Too many predictable jump scares w/ cgi heavy monster really took away from the scary factor

Casting was great imo. Saw a lot of people complaining that Chastain fell flat compared to her child counterpart but I thought she did fine. Mccavoy did great as usual although at times you could hear him forcing his American accent. Hader was the perfect casting choice for adult Richie

Need to see it again for a more nuanced opinion of the overall movie

I saw an early screening of it a couple of months ago, and I can finally put my two cents in. I thought the movie was decent, 7.5/10 for me. I'm bias cause I read the book last year so my expectations were a little higher. I expected more from some scenes like
[spoiler - click to view]

They also made Bill and Beverly's spouses cameos rather than actual characters. There's a suspenseful part of the book where Beverly's dude flips out and is on a hunt for her in Derry, but that didn't make the film. I understand that book is big af and King packed a lot of detail in it, it just felt like they could've done a lil better with some of the elements.

I also wasn't feeling them alluding to Richie and Eddie having a thing for each other as kids. It wasn't part of the story and it was obviously added to appeal to the LGBT community.

It was an early screening so some scenes may have been added or deleted (some of the effects weren't done), but I'll check it out eventually to see if anything has changed, including my opinion

Saw it. Thought it was good 8/10 flick for me. Wasn't anywhere near as scared as the 1st IT, but they follow the trend of today's horror flicks and that's writing strong character arcs and journeys that just happen to have scary/horror elements to it. That seems like a, "yea, no fu*king sh*t" hot take in today's world of Us, The Conjuring, and Hereditary but there really was a time when horror was all about jumpscares, so I'm great w/the continuing of everyone's development taking full center of the audience's attention. I think this is perhaps the best casting they could've made for the adults and while McAvoy and Chastain are top notch, per usual, Bill Header is just..........unreal in this movie. I didn't think Finn Wolfhard's Ritchie could be outdone and here I am proven wrong. Pennywise is once again a strong element as is the score too. I dunno who conducted the score but he/she get a 9/10 for me.

But as I said, it's nowhere near as batsh*t scary as Chapter 1 just due the fact that they're kinda, sorta hardened adults, even if they're caught in an arrested development that is able to play on old childhood fears, plus this movie is lonnnnnnnnng. You start to feel just how long it is about 2 hrs in, and they're still nowhere near a perceived ending as a watcher, and it can feel daunting due to the amount of emotional investing you're putting in. I think that just pulling in at 2 hrs 50 mins is the max time an average person could put into investing a movie like this, but that might be a stretch. Def affects the rewatchability for future showings.

I also think this is low-key one of the funniest movies I've seen this yr. Not a bad thing at all, but it damn near veered into Comedy territory multiple times throughout
