Rakim is like 40 and he dresses, and talks like he's a troubled teen. Dude never showed growth, besides the fact that he can rhyme his a.ss off like none other. But is that all that counts when it comes to determining the greatest? Get the fu*k out of here. Pac made songs for whatever mood you was in. He definitely showed growth as an artist and it showed, with his best work being Makaveli. The sh*t I dont understand is the fact that, people talk so negatively about the dude and claim an artist, say nas, as someone who is above and beyond Pac. But sit nas down and ask him who is the greatest of all time, and without a doubt his a.ss will say Pac.

It seems like most people are saying the same thing. Obviously Rakim displayed his craft at a higher level than Pac. The god emcee set the standard for emcees. However, Pac accomplished what no other emcee could do. He related to the person listening on a very basic level. He said things, right or wrong, that he felt and did it without guarding his personal emotions at all. This means so much more and is much farther reaching than pure skill to some people.

I've explained my self so many fu*king times. I've never said I've hated pac or said he was wack, just ridiculously overrated.

Most people's favorite rapper is pac, and because of that they say he's th best, which is a biased comment. There is a big difference b/t favorite and best, but people don't realize that. My favorite rapper is Krayzie Bone, but he's probably a top 50 rapper at best. Go ask other bone fans, they'll say he's top 10. A big majority of people whose fav. rapper is not pac don't think he's the goat.
There's a difference between saying you hate someone and hating on someone.

Just because you personally, don't believe that 2Pac or in this case, Krayzie Bone isn't top 10, doesn't mean other people can't have their own perceptions. Last time I checked there is no "official" list of who is the so-called best rapper. It is all based on opinions, so of course it's a biased comment, it's fu*king supposed to be, it is strictly a personal conception. No need to get mad about it and tell people they are wrong because they think 2Pac is the best, there is no right or wrong.

I think your missing the point, defending other peoples opinions and "defending 2pac" is two totally different things.

you claim that the people that think tupac is the best are biased? thats just stupid...

and another question for u..........do you think that 2pac putting out all the content he put out in less than a year should be relevant in a discussion of the greatest?

HOW CAN U BE BIASED ABOUT SOMETHING THAT IS BASED ON PERSONAL OPINION????? thats like a neverending contradiction

but whatever, the fact remains that the people who think rakim is better are only interested in wordplay, lyricism and metaphors, while the people who think 2pac is better like listening to rap that has a message and a meaning

although he is and always will be the greatest pioneer in rap history...rakim was seriously slacking a true message in his raps

while rakim fans are more wooed by "coolness" of the wordplay;
"Pull out your money, pull out your cut
Pull up a chair, and I'ma tear sh*t up
My name is Rakim Allah, and R & A stands for "Ra"
Switch it around, but still comes out "R"
So easily will I e-m-c-e-e
My repetition of words is check out my melody"

2pac fans are more wooed by the actual meaning in the wordplay;
"I see death around the..corner, any day
I'm tryin to keep it together, no one lives forever anyway
Strugglin & strivin, my destiny's to die
Keep my finger on the trigger, no mercy in my eyes"

Pac is so overrated it's disgusting.

We get it, he made some deep, thoughtful songs.....Dear Mama and Keep Ya Head up and Brenda's Got A Baby as well as a few others.

But let's not pretend like his catalogue is made up of a majority of those kinds of songs. For every uplifting, deep line he had, there were dozens more about hennessey, thug life and ridin' on his enemies. Today, we criticize rappers for talking about things like that all time so why does Pac get a pass? Cuz he made Dear Mama? Give me a fu*kin' break.........

He got famous pretending to be hard.....something that we also criticize people for today but give Pac a pass for

He wasn't a gangster, he wasn't a stellar emcee. He was a phony loud mouth that created alot of attention for himself. Getting shot didn't hurt his popularity either........

No more time to pass time 'cause these are the last rhymes,
'Cause we're living in the last times...
They wanna go to war, more wars to come
But most of us f!ght more wars than one
Discrimination in the racial nation
While they destroy our strong foundation
Nature's balance is way off balance
They tip the scale, now it's no more silence
The hole in the ozone layer is outta control
But they wanna f!ght for more oil and gold
Unemployment, I got laid off
The streets is the last resorts to get paid off
For more, more mint, no doe for rent
I gotta shed blood to make a red cent
Maybe I should ask the president
Somebody give me the president
But he don't want to hear it, it's out of the question
'Cause in my section it's worse than recession
So I go to a rich neighborhood and play Robin Hood
Take from the bad and give to the good
First I go to Bensonhurst, steal a Benz, snatch a purse
Pick up my friends, that's when it gets worse
'Cause I need government and they need government
Alot of mint spent, now I gotta pay rent
Who makes the most dead presidents in the projects
You're gonna get robbed and wrecked
I parked up the block to plot on a kid that made a knot
Let's get him for all he got
I approached him slow like I was a basehead
Put the fo-fifth to his face and said
You see those kids over there wit the hoods
Walk to them real slow and give them the goods
First the gun and the doe and crush the jumbos
One false move and no one knows
'Cause I got a silencer to hush the bust
And I'm in a rush, so hush the fuss
Plus the poison you fed will no longer spread
You good as dead, I'm a fill your head wit lead
That's when I pushed him into his building
To murder him ...but I remember the children...

Teach the children ,save the nation
I see the destruction, the situation
They're corrupt, and their time's up soon
But they'll blow it up and prepare life on the moon
Sounds like Total Recall
But who gotta spaceship, you get it, we fall
So hope for the best and expect the worst
The end is near and it's U-N-I verse...
The one's that interfere wit nature
Labeled you limited and underrate ya,
His plans over rule when he separates ya
Now it's U-N-I verse, the one that hates ya
So we gotta let them know, we're hip to the script
Change the skit, or we're about to flip
'Cause we want access to happiness
Livin' the good life and much success
Equal opportunity
Self awareness and unity
Education, the kids need a sculpture
Teach them the abacus and their culture...
And that'll help stop the robbing, raping and k!lling
Poison neighborhoods are illing
But they import more keys from across seas
A drug disease hits the streets wit ease
So keep on building.... 'cause we gotta keep building
Till the answers are filled in
And make sure you don't stop till then...
And if you do, remember the children!
