The fact that it's a "concept" album based on a motion picture doesn't change the fact that it sounds like he is just going to be re-hashing the same material we've heard from him before. Besides, I would use the word "concept" really loosely when referring to this one. Jay said the movie took him back to his own memories - his own emotions. When you are doing a concept album, you base your songs almost entirely on the material in the film - not your own experiences.

It is regression in my eyes when an artist attempted to be different lyrically on his last album and then chooses to return to the same old thing on his next release. Jay isn't taking any risks lyrically or production wise on this one and is simply trying to make up for average sales (at least by Jay's standards) of Kingdom Come by giving his primary fan base what it wants.

lol hater.....the trailer ws just hardbody too! man you dudes are corny. You try and come up with real deep logical ways to hate. But i have to give it to you n*ggas you stay consistant wit the hate. Jeezy will tell you himself what jay is talking about is hard body. I mention jeezy because for some reason retards think he was the king in dope dealing. Lol all he did was sell T-shirts got you n*ggas brains warped. Bottom line this n*gga just flashed back to the 80's and painted that clear picture of that error. And also the way he gave it to you is a way that a lot of young rappers disrespect. Now you can hate all you want but music is music and to me this track is harder then any snap your fingers bull sh** that is in the main circuit. And now on the underground tip for what n*ggas is rapping about "killing, dope dealing" n*ggas aint fu*kin wit blue magic why??? Because you cant get any realler then what jay is talkin about. He said he aint talkin about he lived it! period point blank and you have to respect that come on now. Thats what these n*ggas want you to believe.

The concept of this sh*t is crazy. The beat is great he laid down the flows just right for how the track should sound. This album is going to be fire. Great idea to an album about this movie. Bigups to jigga.

I think most of the people on here are under 25 they like songs like "crank that", "shawwwwwwwwty" and "coffee shop".

A lot sh*t goes over peoples head these days especially when you actually have to get into a song. People like catchy beats and repetative hooks. All these wack lil n*ggaz on here would have been praising it if they could easily resite the hook.

The n*ggaz saying hip hop is dead need to grow up open your eyes.

jesus can yall please wipe the moisture from ur panties

So what if you flip a couple words I could triple at them birds,
open your mind you see the circus in the sky.
I’m Ringling brothers Barnum Bailey with the pies,
no matter how you slice it I’m your mother fu*king guy
Just like a b-boy with 360 waves (hairstyle)
I do the same with the pot, still come back beige.
Whether writers are par, whether the powder with yal (??)
whip it around, it still comes back hard.
So easily do I W-H-I-P,
my repitition with kilos will bring you kilo digits.
I got kreole C-O from my n*ggas who slipped, became prisoners, trees taped to the visitors.
You already know what the business is
Unnecessary commissary, boy we live this sh*t.
Wanna bring the 80s back, that’s okay with me, that’s where they made me at.
Except I don’t write on the wall,
I write my name in the history books, hustling in the hall
Nah, I don’t spin on my head I spin work in the pots so I can spend my bread

Chorus:
And I’m getting it I’m getting it
I aint talking about it, I’m living it
I’m getting it, straight getting it
Get get get get get get get it boy
Pharrell sings…
Get it boy

Eighty 7 state of mind that I’m in,
In my prime, so for that time, I’m Rakim
If it wasn’t for those crimes that I’m in
But I wouldn’t be the guy that rhymed in the airs (nikes) that I’m in
Don’t pay no profit, P (Pharrell) I’ll repeat it to show you where the pot is
Cherry (BMW) M3s with the top back
Read and green Gs are on my hat
North beach leathers, matching Gucci sweater,
Gucci sneaks on to keep my outfit together
Whatever, hundred for the diamond chain
Can’t you tell that I came from the dope game
Blame Reagan for making me into a monster
Blame Oliver north and Iran-Contra
I ran contraband that they sponsored
Before this rhyming stuff we was in concert

Chorus

Push, money over broads you got it, Bush
Chef, guess what I cooked
We baked a lot of bread,
and kept it off the books (financial reports, lol)
Rockstars, look, way before the bars my picture was getting took
Feds, they like wack rappers. Try as they may they couldn’t get me on the hook
D.A. wanna indite me, cuz fish scales in my veins like a pisces
The pirecs pack (??) rolled up my sleeve,
turn one into two like a Siamese twin when it end
and I’m saying as a man I’ll die in Armani, last of a dying breed
So let the champagne pop, I partied for a while now I’m back to the Block.

Chorus

You are calling me a hater because I think its an average track? I own, meaning I went out and bought every single Jay Z album he has put out. I wouldn't ever straight hate on Jay period without a good reason. But, I don't need another album from him talking about being a d-boy. I could care less whether it's "real". It comes off really lame him being on his grown man sh!t and then making an album about selling for sales. That's real talk right there

and so the f-k what if it's better than most of what we are hearing now on the radio? My standards aren't so low that I'm going to say I love a track simply because its better than 80% of the garbage out there. You want to lower the bar for music that is fine, but this is straight average from Jay.

i dont understand how n*ggas love this track? how is it 80s hip hop with a weird a.ss wack beat like that. and jay just sounds old and flat.. some of the lyrics are ok but he sounds like everybody else talkin about whippin cane.. n*gga just sounds so uninspired and lazy. the old jay woulda came with a crazy flow for that track. sh*t is just average from him now-a-days and anybody that says this is crack is a jay d*ck rider. i think jay is the goat but come on jay this sh*t is some hot garbage.
