its gotten so bad, that me, an avid hardcore fan of hiphop since the age of 10, who love(d) it to death, just does not care anymore.

i listen to the few underground rappers that are actually rapping about stuff, but other than that, if i listen to hiphop its gonna be the stuff i listened to as i grew up. (im 21 btw)

rap today is just retarted. An era where lil wayne is considered the greatest rapper ever is just a joke. people have caught on to the scam being done by these record labels, and now, unless all these record labels and MTV and BET start playing some REAL hiphop, its gonna die

I wonder what the next big thing is gonna be. maybe.... techno?

fu*k it, I've been listening to a lot of rock music recently, and its starting to grow on me to the point of not listening to rap anymore. period
dogg, im with you on this 100% im 24 yrs old i started listening to rap about in the early 90s, from 2pac ,BIG, Master P and what not, and just to see how its taken a fall i too have started listening to rock because really everyone nowadays is too commerical. sh*t even some of the old school rappers i once listened to now are garbage. thats pretty bad considering your expecting something good from say Red or Meth and both of their cds arent even worthy of riding in my cars cd player. let me quote Nas on this one " Hip Hop Is Dead"

forget all that...man the industry being r*peing artists and comsumers for so long they get what they deserve for feeding the people garbage and charging 19 dollars for it!!!! you are what you eat, and if you digest sh*t guess what that makes YOU!!!! If the album is Classic I might buy it, BUT sh*t with GAS being the price it is and inflation who the hell got 12 dollars for a cd, I got to eat and get back and forth to work, EVERYTHING ELSE is secondary!!!!!

I feel you. Just a few years back, i would never have thought i'd be listening to people like Gym Class Heroes or Fall Out Boy, but rap is really hurting right now. It will never go away, and i feel there are still many great artists out there doing their thing, but i will never be as big of a hip hop head as i once was.

i wish people would stop over analyzing things all the god damn time

sales [of CDs] are down because:

1) illegal downloads
2) legal downloads
3) consumers buying hit singles (mostly as ringtones) instead of whole albums
lol @ fool the white kids. this guy above has it right. wtf.
