We jus had a talk about this at word today. Rap came to the south. Ever since den people started sayn " o hiphop is dying" because the people up north isnt sellin anymore. I say n many people say its startin to go back tot he old days. When hiphop was fun to listen to. Freestyln still goes on heavy because im ona label that has open mic night at a club in charleston n they freestyle or battle. People made songs back in the day that made people get up out there seats and have fun on the floor. thats what all the snap music n dance songs comin from. Stoppin all the volience in the clubs. Everything is in a different beat. listen to the vibes! Soulja boi is wack as hell but watch the crowd and the reaction. Everyone gets up n dances wit everyone n have fun. Like they did in the 70s when hiphop first when mainstream! Fun music! Like sumone said before, hiphop has different genres. Money is a big deal also but what people are spendin it on is stupid also because buyn grills when they can buy land to invest n get more money is retarded. I rather buy a house than buy a 78 chevy on 30s. I listen to boosie and trill ent and 2pac still..alot of others but i cant rememeber who lol

It takes something special to BUY the CD these days.

I only BUY from a select group of artists.

OutKast, Lupe, Kanye, Common, Luda, Wu-tang, everything else gets burned.

You know that the labels buy their albums to influence the charts. How do you explain an album going from # 1 to #9 or #16 after two weeks?
Because people buy things such as Games/CDs when they come out usually. So by the 3rd week or so, everybody that was meaning to cop the album pretty much already has...

i wish people would stop over analyzing things all the god damn time

sales [of CDs] are down because:

1) illegal downloads
2) legal downloads
3) consumers buying hit singles (mostly as ringtones) instead of whole albums

Bootleggin, downloading, the south none of that is responsible. If you put 12 dope songs on a record your sh*t will sell. What's k!llin the genre is the lack of the culture behind it. It used to be no biting, now everybody uses the same template, it used to be a dj and rappers, not its 4 producers with the same sanitized sound, I can go on for days and days but its the artists willingness to take the easy way out, give you a banger or 2 and the rest filler. With the exception of Wayne(who could've survived in the golden ages) these new cats glorify the wrong things(a valueless system, even thieves have a code) rrecycle the same ideas and pine for that ringtone money.
