publishing; royalty points; and master issuance is all 'contractual' and is typically different on each case.

When you ghostwrite, the only thing you are 'usually' guaranteed is purchase money and copyright co-ownership. Much like alot of the people in this post have been saying (mixing up) is you don't usually/always retain publishing of the track [which is the way to 'hide' the fact that someone is ghostwriting]. So, without seeing the contract Gillie signed with Cash Money to do writing duties, I wouldn't know the details he accepted and signed for...hence, he may not even be owed any royalties/publishing credits....and he may be just talking sh*t & trying to be an annoyance. PLUS, as you can see from the list...he didn't do ALOT of writing for Wayne...it was more other members of Cash Money like Baby, and Boo & Gotti. In addition, The L.O.C. & ASCAP both only record & database the authorship & application forms when tracks are legally protected...it doesn't have anything to do with contractual work, publishing, royalties, etc.

My best 'assumption'...since he was only signed to Cash Money for a writing deal...I'd a.ssume he signed contracts for straight sales of the writing projects he did for them. Him and his lawyer would have known this though before he signed the contracts & copyright forms...so I think he's just trying to talk junk to get attention.

Damn Doc J,

Fist off thanks for the work you put in and kindly imparted to us...as well as Stormtrooper. I'm an admitted Skillz "Stan" so I'm hoping you haven't given up researching him. I'm kinda hoping he's purposeful in signing each copyright work with a different name.

I'm like a spouse that hired a private investigator...I just gotta know man I jus gotta know. Is his work just not that extensive at all? Plz don't give up!

L-Roc, & Craig Love

E-40,Scrappy, Styles p, Bow wow,and T.I. have the same ghost writers?!? Wow.

Probably hit writers or r&b/pop hit makers for non commercial sounding artist.

So, who else wrote for T.I.? Heck, did em(em or hittman/d.o.c.) really write for 50 and game's rhymes for their first album? Maybe it was Ya boy (William Joseph Crawford) ? Doc J , i was wondering if you can see how many songs Z-ro (Joseph Wayne McVey ) wrote for T.I. . If you can't find them, sorry for asking.

I've been on 'vacation' from it, during the holidays, lol...

I'm still having a damn hard time with Skillz...he's filed under different spellings of names, and each name has like only 2-4 tracks each. Not as impressive as common myth about him is. Still working on him though.

From the registered copyright form...

As I have said throughout this whole thread...ASCAP is a good source but not the most accurate to find out writers, because it doesn't break down WHO does WHAT. It only lists all of the people involved in the creation of the song (meaning artists, features, producers, writers, and sampled artists). The best source I use (because I have copyrights) is using my LOC ID and doing copyright application searches on the LOC (Library of Congress) website. Even if you don't own copyrights, you can do a public record search as well, it's limited and not the whole data of the form, but is pretty informative.

"why do these n*ggas credit the helpers? man I would never credit a n*gga"
To answer your easily...you legally HAVE to. All professional writers make a majority of their money from ownership of licensing (to radio, tv, etc) and performing rights (either ASCAP, BMI, or SESAC). When a ghostwriter (or writer) writes or co-writes a song, they legally OWN that track. It is illegal for an artist to copyright FULL ownership of a song if he didn't write it all...he can be sued for this. This is the biggest misconception of 'GHOSTWRITING' that alot of people have mixed up in this thread...'MOST' of the time, ghostwriters are paid cash for their writtens and are kept secret from media, titles, and sometime often album credits...BUT legally they have to be listed on the copyright application form...and this is why it is the smoking gun. Artists and labels can lie...but registered copyrights never lie.

Additionally, it isn't just 'one punchline'. According to our US Government (LOC), a person is considered an author if they wrote 3 or more written bars of lyrical text. So, you're not considered an author if you tell the rapper to change a word or 2...Just to educate you.
