No it doesnt and if it does, its alot more minimal than America, you guys make EVERYTHING about race.
I never denied that it's more prevalent here, but you'd be blissfully ignorant to think that it doesn't go on where you live.

I agree... Please compare these 2 links:

BBC News website report:

(Mentions it's for his ACHIEVEMENTS! The fatc that he is a young rookie driver winning a race in his first season... mentioned as an Englishman (the present) as oppossed to his (father's, relatives, past).

LA Times report:

(Mentions it's "historic" but for different reasons! First "African" drive to win... he was born and raised in the UK (father from Grenada... but i guess they're talking about origin.. but, umm... arent we all suppossedly of African origin?? Foolish article...)

What's the difference?? The big deal in the LA Times was the fact that he was black... Why can they just never move on from race? Personally, i'm sick of it.. if it isn't about Health, Unemployment, Crime, Success, lack of success, politics... dammit, you Americans, all Americans... not African, not Latino, not European... ALL... need to LET IT GO!.

True, it gets fu*kin boring. The guy should be congratulated for winning a F1 event not for belonging to a particular ethnic group

Do black people even care about racing?

I mean, you do realize most Nascar fans ARE southern white people, right?

No, we dont necessarily care about formula 1 racing, but we are also proud of another brother knocking down another milestone for the race. It could be shuffle board or water skiing, wouldn't matter. It portrays racial fortitude and buoyancy.

im just being honest he looks white washed as hell.

now if some dark a.ss african motherfu*ker won that sh*t, itd be something to talk about, cause whites would throw a fit. This motherfu*ker is obviously mixed, white people prolly throw it under the rug like oh hes just french we'll let it pass.
and if u dont get that see eva longoria- telling her family that tony isnt mixed, hes just french and her grandmother being fine with that.

SMH

go fu*k ur bi*ch looking n*gga, n*gga got like lipgloss on, getting his eyenbrows done and all that sh*t.

because he isn't wearing a bandana he isn't black??? STFU...its people like you that give black people a bad image...

and he is English you dumbfu*k

*to news and threadstarter*

the guy won the race he is agood driver...best rookie i have ever seen...why do you have to mention that he is black??? he is English...why do americans class each other by what their skin colour is???

I mentioned he’s black because that was the title of the article I found. My opinion on anything will rarely be seen...I just post it up and let you all go at it. I may agree I may disagree...it is what it is.

Some people say why does it have to be about race. Maybe the sad truth is that it is all about race.

Maybe the sad truth is that in AMERICAN a young black boy needs to see this kind of thing, someone his own color achieving something great. So that he knows that there is more out there than streets, hoods, gangs, Etc.

I appreciate your stance on this being from the UK, however I dot believe you can be FULLY in touch with American society, regardless of readaly accusable news media. You would be surprised how much in the media blacks are subliminally told they aren’t worth anything.

This was supposed to be uplifting not a call for debate on race.

Oh well...just my 02 cents.

the reason why its a big deal cuz its a white dominated sport. just like when tiger won it was a big deal. its sad to say but a lot white ppl dun like fact he won. race issues and racism is very relevent in 2007.

its good to see ,

but blacks are statistically bad drivers right next to asains .... if i was boxed in on the highway with either , i would prolly still choose black ... but well hey , yall got a race car driver now ... things are looking up

nope , your completely wrong ..

but yes your right , racism is very relevent in 2007 , so much so that people persistently use it to make excuses for everything that doesnt work out for them in life ....

its a big deal cuz he is black in a white dominated sport and its the truth and its a good selling point for the racing industry to market in the black communities
