Perimeter defenders back in that time are no where close to those of today.
They didnt have a problem with scoring, but as soon as there were more athletic defenders, you suddenly see 70-80 point games, instead of 100-110.

ok, phil also said..........

The past eight Lakers wins have been all Kobe Bryant. He’s averaged nearly 50 points per game (47.9) in those victories. Even the nine-time NBA Champion Coach of the Lakers and former coach of His Airness is impressed.

"I have never seen that," Jackson said reflecting. "The years I was in Chicago we always had guys that were uninjured, more active, we had a stronger back-up (player) situation and players that had a bigger scoring role."

"The other thing was," Jackson continued. "It was never coming upon Michael (Jordan) to do that in a course of a game. There was times when he got off and scored big numbers but it was situations that were dictated by playoffs or something like that. There was never a need situation like this Lakers team had this year. Where we were really destroyed depth-wise and guys, who were back, weren't physically capable of scoring themselves so he took on that load. (His scoring binge) has been dramatic; I have never seen anybody do that in my history with basketball."

It was inevitable he'd say something, in his purple-and-gold euphoria, to tweak what he left behind in Chicago. But Michael Jordan? In a chat about Bryant, Jackson said he has displayed a better "overall" game than any other player he has coached. That would include, um, Jordan. "It's the best I've ever seen a player of mine with an overall court game," he says. "I'm asking him to do so much, and he's accomplishing it."

so why dont yall have a few laughs at that.....

these threads are gettin redundant...Jordan is, was, and forever will be the G.O.A.T. Yes he did take some things from stars before him like Dr. J to add to his game just like Kobe has done with MJ
