Well fellas tonight is the big game. As much as I bleed maroon and orange I see LSU coming away with a win tonight unless Ore can really establish the run game for usand the defense can cause a few turnovers. LSU will be hard to run against and we all know Glennon can't win a game on his own and VT nation has lost all faith in him since he cost us the bowl game last year against Georgia. I was hoping he's stay messing up last week so they'd put Taylor in the game lol! I think our defense will be able to keep it close and we for sure aren't pushovers like MSU but I think that we just won't overcome our lack of offensive firepower to win. Here's to a good game and may the best team win. Go Hokies!!!

Putting Taylor in this game would be a mistake. He is a true freshmen right? You do not want him playing in death Valley tonight.

I agree with you though, if Ore can get the running game going then yeah, Just gotta hope Flynn holds on to that ball

Gotta give LSU lots of credit, they played great. As good as our linebackers are they can't do it by themselves. The lack of any dline presence and our freshmen at safety really showed tonight with blown a.ssignments. I'm kinda glad we got our a.ss kicked quick and early because now at least they got rid of Glennon and we can start grooming Taylor. Still no run blocking at all though and Ore is nowhere to be found, it looks to be a rebuilding year for Tech. My hats off to the LSU team

NEW YORK - LSU is closing in on Southern California in the AP Top 25, and Appalachian State is getting some recognition — but not a ranking. After a surprisingly easy and thoroughly impressive victory over Virginia Tech, No. 2 LSU took 19 first-place votes from No. 1 USC in the AP Top 25 released Sunday.

The Trojans were idle Saturday while the Tigers routed the Hokies 48-7 in death Valley. USC received 40 first-place votes from the media panel, down from 59 last week, and 1,619 points.

LSU received 25 first-place votes and 1,582 points.

Appalachian State, a week after pulling off a stunning upset at Michigan, received 19 points, not nearly enough to be ranked but it got a spot between Auburn (23 points) and Cincinnati (12 points) in the list of others receiving votes.

The Mountaineers, who play in Division I's Championship Subdivision (formerly I-AA), became eligible for the Top 25 when The a.ssociated Press changed it policy last week to allow voters to vote for teams from all divisions of college football.

Appalachian State appeared on four ballots and got a 13th-place vote from Dave Goren of WXII-TV in Winston-Salem, N.C.

While USC and LSU held their places at the top of the poll, Oklahoma moved up two spots into third while West Virginia slipped a spot to No. 4 and lost its first-place vote to the Tigers.

Defending national champion Florida was No. 5. The Gators face their first test Saturday when they play No. 22 Tennessee in Gainesville, Fla.

No. 6 Texas, Wisconsin, California, Louisville and Ohio State rounded out the top 10.

Virginia Tech fell out of the top 10, sliding nine spots to No. 18 after getting pounded by LSU. Georgia also took a big drop, falling 12 spots to No. 23 after losing 16-12 to South Carolina.

The Gamecocks were one of three teams moving into the rankings this week, coming in at No. 17. Oregon, which beat Michigan 39-7, was No. 19, and Boston College was No. 21.

Auburn, TCU and Boise State dropped out of the Top 25 after their first losses of the season.

The second 10 started with UCLA, followed by Penn State, Rutgers and Nebraska, which hosts USC on Saturday.

Georgia Tech was No. 15 and Arkansas, South Carolina, Virginia Tech, Oregon and Clemson rounded out the top 20.

Boston College, Tennessee, Georgia, Texas A&M and Hawaii were the final five. Both Texas A&M and Hawaii had to go to overtime on Saturday to remain unbeaten.

Ryan P to Tolliver is gonna be the sickest combo out there. I also hope Richard Murphy gets more PT. We need ot stick hester at FB(such a extra threat there) Keiland and Murphy as #1 and 2 backs. Scott as #3. Holliday too. So many options at HB...

Yeah, we're probably second to only them. Keiland is on the verge of being a star. Richard has that ability but for some reason isn't getting the PT

BATON ROUGE, La. - Ryan Perrilloux looked nothing like a backup quarterback in his first career start for LSU. Perrilloux threw for 298 yards and three touchdowns to lead No. 2 LSU to a 44-0 victory over Middle Tennessee on Saturday night.

With a Southeastern Conference showdown against Steve Spurrier's No. 17 South Carolina squad looming next weekend, LSU coach Les Miles decided to rest regular starter Matt Flynn, who had sprained his right ankle a week earlier and whose participation in practice had been limited since.

Miles also held out No. 1 receiver Early Doucet.

Oddsmakers had LSU (3-0) favored by a little more than five touchdowns over the Blue Raiders (0-3). The Tigers had no trouble meeting such lofty expectations with Perrilloux behind center and numerous reserves such as sophomore receiver Jared Mitchell (six catches, 82 yards) getting extensive playing time.

It was 44-0 in the third quarter.

Perrilloux was widely considered the most sought-after quarterback recruit in the country when he played at East St. John high school in southeast Louisiana.

In his senior season in high school, Perrilloux passed for 3,546 yards and 30 touchdowns and ran for 1,460 yards and 37 touchdowns. He was USA Today's high school player of the year.

But what promised to be a glittering college career with his home state Tigers took a dark turn during the past year.

First, he was named a person of interest in a federal counterfeiting investigation. He was never named as a suspect, but just as he seemed to be emerging unscathed from that probe, the 20-year-old redshirt sophomore jeopardized his spot on the team when he was arrested for trying to get into a Baton Rouge riverboat casino using his older brother's license.

Miles suspended Perrilloux, but reinstated him in time for preseason practice.

In LSU's first two games, both blowouts, Perrilloux made the most of his mop-up duty, throwing for three scores and rushing for another. Against the Blue Raiders, he likely established himself as LSU's quarterback of the future.

Throwing hard and accurately, he completed 20 of 25 passes while putting his all-around ability on display with 37 yards rushing.

Perhaps Perrilloux's best display of athleticism came on an incompletion in the closing seconds of the first half. With the Blue Raiders on a rush into the backfield, Perrilloux slithered and spun out of the grasp of four defenders while twice changing the hands with the ball, then threw it away just before getting leveled.

Avoiding the sack allowed Colt David to set up for a 26-yard field goal as time expired, sending the Tigers into halftime with a 23-0 lead. David also had field goals of 29 and 35 yards.

By contrast, Middle Tennessee's offense, which put up 42 points against Louisville, struggled to make first downs against the Tigers, finishing with only 166 total yards in LSU's second shutout of the season.

Blue Raiders starter Joe Craddock completed only six passes for 59 yards and was sacked four times before being pulled in the second half. His replacement, Dwight Dasher, spent much of his time in the game scrambling, was sacked twice, and needed only 30 yards to finish as his team's leading rusher.

Perrilloux's game wasn't quite perfect. He also threw his first career interception on LSU's third drive of the game.

Otherwise, nearly every other drive he led ended with points. There was a 13-yard TD on a short pass over the middle to running back Charles Scott, a 62-yarder to Demetrius Byrd in the second quarter, and a 15-yard bullet to Terrance Tolliver in the back of the end zone.

Receiver Bradnon LaFell scored on an 18-yard reverse and Richard Murphy had an 8-yard run.

Yeah, we can get some big hype if we beat SC by a few TDs. Won't be easy but we can do it.

Well time to focus on the Saints, PLEASE WIN!
