Updates:

* Greg Ellis is at it again. He hasn't returned to OTA's since the team starting giving the younger guys (mostly Spencer) more snaps in practice to check them out....this is the 3rd year in a row he's acted like a b*tch.:wtf:

* Hamlin has yet to show up for OTA's, he didn't attend the off-season conditioning program and still hasn't signed his $4.39M franchise tag tender.

* Terry Glenn is pissy because the team asked him to sign a $500K settlement to protect themselves from paying his full salary if he reinjures himself this season. I thought it was fu*ked up at first, until I saw he made $5.82M last season, which figures out to be $1.45M a snap!:wow: He's set to make a $1.74M base salary this year, so I don't blame the team for doing that.

* Roy missed last week's voluntary OTA's to attend an already scheduled "family vacation". He also still refuses to speak to any of the media....don't really blame him there. They'll probably ask stupid sh*t like "are you suffering from depression or low self esteem?" and "do you feel like your career is over?"

I am not worried about Ellis, he is just going through his usual bi*chfest. He got his money so he shouldn't be worried.

T Glenn, we are doing the right thing business wise. We need to find out what we have with these young guys at receiver:Stanback, Hurd, Austin. They probably won't be elite receivers but they provide speed and depth. I look at a team like the Packers and what they had a wide receiver last year. Nothing great but solid receiving corp.

I think Hamlin may not get signed because TO and Canty may be more important. I like Hamlin but he might be the odd man out.

As for Roy, this is make or break for him. He needs to show improvement or he is gone.

^^Same sh*t I said.

I'm sure he didn't know what was gonna happen, but he should've gotten the season ending surgery last year. Cause now he has to go without it which can fu*k up his knee permanently.

I'm not really worried about Ellis either, but he got his fu*kin money last season and he STILL continues to pull this sh*t. He needs to man the fu*k up cause it's gettin old.

I think we're fine at receiver too, cause I see Witten as our #2 guy rather than Crayton if Glenn isn't there. Teams would be forced to focus on Witt, which opens up things for Crayton, Hurd, Austin and Stanback...or maybe even Bennett and Felix.

With Hamlin, I think the club really wants to get him signed, but the money Gibril Wilson got (even though he's trash) drove up the market for safeties. Considering his agent doesn't help the situation either. Unfortunately, I can see Canty being the odd man out since they chose to tag Hamlin and not him.

Jason Taylor for Greg Ellis a deal that makes sense
The Dallas Cowboys and the Dolphins have a connection as evidenced by the trades the teams made during free agency and the draft, the fact each has signed the other's discards, and the fact part of the Dallas coaching and personnel staff is now working in Miami.

So doesn't it make sense for the Cowboys and Dolphins to swap Greg Ellis for Jason Taylor?

Absolutely.

Although Taylor lies states he would be happy playing for the Dolphins in 2008, the fact remains he wants to play for a winner. The Cowboys fit that bill. Taylor, I am told, would happily adjust his contract to make a move to Dallas for the one more year he says he's going to play. This is not a money issue for him, it is about the chance to go out with a ring and he doesn't think he has that chance in Miami no matter what he lies says to protect his image.

Ellis?

He will be 33 years old before the season and is reportedly unhappy in Dallas because the Cowboys are trying to find more playing and practice time for 2007 first-round pick Anthony Spencer. Ellis is so disturbed by this he didn't show up to some OTA work the last couple of weeks.

So how much of a stretch is it to think the teams could swap aging but productive defensive ends? Not much when you think that Dallas may not be scared away by Taylor's desire (or lack thereof) to play only one more year. Again, I remind you they have Spencer on deck.

This trade, by the way, is not something I've been told will happen. Just want to clear that up. But the Cowboys interest in Taylor is quite poorly veiled. Adam Schefter, of the NFL Network, has reported the Cowboys have had "internal discussions" about adding Taylor.

Finally, this trade makes more sense than some of the ones you guys have previously proposed on this blog or on my weekend radio show. The most notable of those is trading Taylor to the Bengals for Chad Johnson, which will NEVER happen.

Let me address this one once and for all. Johnson is not on the trade block. That is proven by the fact the Bengals turned down two first round picks from Washington in exchange for Johnson. If they turned down two first round picks for Johnson, they are not going to turn around and give him up for a player that will play only one more season.

Damn all this good news today first Pac Man and now TO

By JAIME ARON, AP Sports Writer

IRVING, Texas - Terrell Owens has been on his best behavior for quite awhile. The Dallas Cowboys are doing their best to keep it that way. Both sides agreed Monday to a three-year contract extension worth around $27 million, according to a person close to the negotiations who asked to remain anonymous because it hasn't been announced. ADVERTISEMENT

The key to the deal may not be the length or even the money, which is close to what Randy Moss received.

The best part: Owens will not be playing out the final year of his contract, eliminating a potentially explosive topic from a team that needs its attention on ending an 11-season drought without a playoff win.

Word of Owens' deal came a few hours after the Cowboys got other good news: NFL commissioner Roger Goodell is allowing suspended cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones to join the club all the way up to the regular season and will decide by Sept. 1 if Jones can be fully reinstated.

Owens' last few deals have been nothing but headline-makers. There was the seven-year, $48.97 million contract he got from the Philadelphia Eagles in 2004, followed by all the complaining he did about it in 2005. The Eagles cut him, letting him sign anywhere else, and he wound up getting a three-year, $25 million deal from the Cowboys.

Jerry Jones sure has gotten his money's worth.

Owens has provided glitz, jersey sales — and lots of catches. He led the NFL with 13 touchdown catches in 2006, then had an NFC-best 15 more last season. His two-year total is tops in the NFL.

His success also coincided with the emergence of Tony Romo, who went from backup to Pro Bowler by following the simple formula of throwing to No. 81 whenever possible.

Owens has insisted for months that he wasn't worried about his next contract because Jones always takes care of his players. True enough, Jones re-signed offensive lineman Flozell Adams early in the offseason, then recently gave extensions to cornerback Terence Newman and running back Marion Barber. All were quite lucrative, just like this one.

Now that the Cowboys are back to being among the NFC's top teams, Jones wants to keep it that way. As much as he wants to win a playoff game for the first time since the 1996 season, and a Super Bowl for the first time since 1995, he also has seats and luxury suites to sell. The team is footing the bill for most of a $1.1 billion stadium that will seat 80,000 for most games, with a capacity of up to 100,000.

Owens will turn 39 in December of the final year of the extension, 2011.

He's 35 now and in as good shape as anyone a decade younger. A fitness devotee, he's unlikely to let himself go now. His former teammate and mentor Jerry Rice played well into his 40s.

The Cowboys have never brought up Owens' age in anything but a positive light. In fact, since coach Bill Parcells left after the 2006 season, the club and "the player" — as Parcells called him — have gotten along just fine. Even fans have come around to the guy who made himself Public Enemy No. 1 for spiking a ball onto the team's midfield star logo twice in the same game while he played for the San Francisco 49ers.

Paying him on par with Moss is another way to keep T.O. smiling.

Owens has averaged 83 catches and 1,267.5 yards over his two seasons in Dallas.

A five-time All-Pro, Owens is ninth on the career receptions list with 882, 10th in receiving yards with 13,070 and third in touchdown with 129.

He's also the active leader in TD receptions, a point of pride for a guy who was the 89th overall pick in 1996, the draft that featured Keyshawn Johnson taken first overall, with Terry Glenn, Eddie Kennison, Marvin Harrison, Eric Moulds, Amani Toomer, Muhsin Muhammad and Bobby Engram among the receivers taken before Owens, thank you Jerrah! :applause:

Jason Taylor for Greg Ellis??:wow: That actually makes alot of sense. Even though that isn't official, I wouldn't mind seeing that happen....him opposite Ware at OLB would be ridiculous. Except Taylor only has a year left, while Ellis still has a multi-year contract...not sure how that would work.

I'm happy as hell TO will retire a Cowboy too. And even more happy about Pacman getting to practice with the team so he's ready to play once season starts.

...a good day for the 'Boys.:applause:

Pacman Making Plays In Debut

IRVING, Texas - Terrell Owens didn't see the interception for a would-be touchdown at Tuesday's voluntary OTA practice session. He was in New York handling some personal business before flying back to Dallas for the press conference at Texas Stadium announcing his three-year contract extension.

But Owens quickly got word of Adam "Pacman" Jones' pick at Valley Ranch.

"I did get a text from (Tony) Romo," Owens said. "He said he missed my speed out there, and he said Pacman looked pretty good."

Jones picked off first-year veteran quarterback Richard Bartel in team drills, not Romo. But the Cowboys' cornerback apparently looked impressive for a guy who hadn't played organized football in 14 months until NFL commissioner Roger Goodell granted him partial reinstatement to join his new team for off-season workouts, meetings, training camp and preseason.

Jones has not been fully reinstated for the 2008 season. Goodell plans to make that decision by Sept. 1, but Monday's announcement indicates Jones has a good chance of playing for the Cowboys if he can continue to "conduct himself in a lawful and reliable manner," as the league put it in a statement.

"It's a step. There are more steps," Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said. "This is an opportunity for him from the league and we'll see how it goes from there. I too believe the commitment that he's making and the recognition that he sees how things are if you don't get to be in the National Football League and how things are when you get to the National Football League."

Both Pacman Jones and Owens are expected to participate in Wednesday's workout, which finally could match up two of the league's most talented players at their respective positions in practice.

"I would've prevented that interception (today)," Owens laughed.

But seems like he hasnt missed a step. I dont think Henry will lay down and let Jones take his sh*t like that, but i do plan on seeing a great battle in Training Camp for that spot....

After 2 OTA's, Henry's spot looks good as gone. Especially with Deion mentoring him the way he is. Henry may not be out of a job though, he "could" just get another one....peep this...

Henry Makes First Steps Toward Safety

IRVING, Texas - Last season, the Cowboys found themselves scrambling for cornerbacks. If all goes well this year, the team will have to get creative to put them all on the field at once.

The addition of Adam "Pacman" Jones and first-round pick Mike Jenkins has the cornerback position potentially crowded alongside returning starters Terence Newman and Anthony Henry. That's why the Cowboys are working on a few defensive packages that could possibly get more corners on the field at once, maybe even four at a time.

But to do that, one of them will be working as a safety in the nickel and dime packages. And so far in the OTA's, that player has been Henry, who actually got some experience at safety early in his career with Cleveland.

"They've spoken to me a little bit about it, but it's not set in stone right now," Henry said. "I'm just trying to go with the flow and see what happens. I'm not sure at this point. Right now, I'm going inside and working with the dime, covering the tight ends in the slot. That's another thing they added in for me to work on right now. I'm just going with the flow and seeing what happens."

Henry said one specific package has him playing in a "dime backer" role, a position that Roy Williams played some last season. Henry said that package would also allow the Cowboys to play Newman, Pacman Jones and Jenkins at the same time.

For now, Henry said he's not sure the Cowboys are thinking about a full-time move from cornerback to safety. But if they are, he said he would prefer them to tell him now so he can get ready for the start of the season.

"That's the thing I've wondered about," said Henry, who played three seasons at safety at South Florida before moving to cornerback as a senior. "If (I'm) going to do that, I think I should do it now so I can get an opportunity to really learn and get it down instead of going into training camp and the preseason and try to learn on the run. But right now, safety hasn't been brought up in a while. So I guess that's not what they want to do right now."

While the cornerbacks have some depth, that's not exactly the case at safety, especially right now with Ken Hamlin missing the entire off-season because of a contract dispute. Hamlin has not signed his franchise tender and has yet to participate in any of the team's off-season conditioning program or the three weeks of OTA practices.

Along with Roy Williams, the Cowboys have been working Pat Watkins and Courtney Brown at the safety position.

While Henry said he doesn't anticipate making a full-time switch to safety this year, he did admit he would like to make the switch at some point in his career.

"Yeah, I look forward to playing it," Henry said. "I'm not sure what's going to happen here. At some point, I want to do it because I want to further my career and I know I can play it well. I'm not saying that right now is the time, but if it was, I wish they would just do it now so I can focus on it and get ready for the season."

Other cornerbacks who have moved to safety later in their careers include Rod Woodson, Carnell Lake and Aeneas Williams.

Having Henry, Newman, Pacman, Jenkins and Hamlin in the secondary at the same time would be insane. That would let us be more aggressive and blitz Ware and Ellis even more than last season.

I didn't know Henry played most of college at safety, and some when he was first with Cleveland.

I'll give Phillips his props, he's finding ways to get all his playmakers on the field.
