This is what Payton had to say about colston and meachem:

Q: Do you like that Meachem will take some pressure off Colston?

A: In our offense, I don't look at having a No. 1 receiver. We had four guys have over 600 yards receiving. We are looking for guys who can compete and play and have the right attitude. He's another big receiver. I'm not looking to take pressure off one player. He's a guy who can run, Devery Henderson can run, Terrance Copper played quite a bit last season and played well, David Patten, who we just signed, can run. You try to strengthen the group, and hopefully we can continue to make the same progress and move forward.

Thats why we are so good its the total TEAM Attitude and thats one thing the saints have never had this is why we'll be contenders aslong as brees stays healthy he's really our backbone.

i really hope we draft one of those guys out of hampton...there were alot of them in the combine and the commentators were talking big about those guys. i think it was a LB, a DB, and a wr or something like that. been studying for tests so haven't been able to follow it as much as i wanted, but meachem made more sense the more i thought about it and young sounds promising....go N.O

Damn i forgot about Patten, hell yea!!!! i can't wait for the season to start!! patten, meachem, the corner from indy, the safety from cincy, brian simmons, and good picks in the draft and i don't think we're through in the trade market....i see us getting another good LB...sean payton is doing his thang

we just draft a LB from tenn. so payton didnt totally just ignore tha need for one. i thought for a while he was just gonna ignore that sh*t. now we have one pick left and i think he might take a QB wit that pick.

Payton spoke on the reason why they didn't draft a DT when it was clear we needed one. Basically in a nutshell he said that the DT's available in this year's draft weren't that impressive to him and he didn't want to waste a pick on someone they weren't sure about. Branch had weight problems and we know damn well we don't want to have to deal with another Jonathan Sullivan..haha. Anyway, he said that he definitely will look for a DT in next year's draft but there wasn't one that stood out to him. I thought they would take dude from Florida but because of his issues with getting kicked off the team I knew Payton wasn't gonna take a chance on him.

Payton 'bout to repeat what he did last year...try out his prospects, and if he doesn't like 'em, gotta go...he always said that what he doesn't get in the draft, he'll get from free agency anyway...

Just to let anyone know if they were wondering if we picked up anyone else

Wade Koehl LB Houston
Jake Kuresa OL BYU
Rhema McKnight WR Notre Dame
Tyler Palko QB Pittsburgh

Offensive tackle Peter Dyakowski will be making the 80-mile trip southeast along the Mississippi River to New Orleans when the Saints open their camp for first-year players on May 12.

(this signing is a rumor until i get more info) Walter Thomas 6'5 374lb DT dude is a real sleeper pick here is a link with info about him.

nah...i still think Ricky was the biggest mistake...not because he didnt produce, but because he didnt produce anywhere NEAR what Ditka gave up to get him...
