Careful betting against your squad, especially one who plays up to its competition (too bad they didnt last night).

The last game I ever dropped MONEY money on was in '05 the Knicks vs the Nets at the Garden. The Knicks were GARBAGE w/ LB and were getting only 5.5 at home. The Nets were a lock to cover. It was Steve Francis' first game as a Knick (after the Ariza deal).

The Nets were rompin the Knicks by double digits in the 1st and extended the lead to over 30 points by sometime early in the 3rd. I was in Brooklyn at the time and was at the bar wit my boy buying beer and a shot for the whole bar, i was going nutz! Just my luck, the Nets proceed to take out all their starters and replace them with their scrubs. Needless to say, the Knicks go on one of their runs and cut the game close in the 4th.

The reason why I remember it was Steve Francis' first game was because this was the day I grew my EXTREME HATRED towards him.

As close as the Knicks cut the game, they still fell short in their attempt. It was Knicks ball with 1.3 seconds left on the clock inbounding at the half court marker. They were losing by 8, Game was over. Inbound it, hand the ball to the ref, shake hands, and hit the showers...I had to sweat it out, but I won big.

Then it happened....The ball was inbounded to Francis and he tossed it at the basket from half court as if this were Rock 'n Jock and they had a 25 point spot on the floor. YOUR DOWN BY 8, there's nothing you can do to win. WHY???? WHY!!!! I remember feeling the same in the bar as everyone is enjoying themselves, I'm tearing myself up inside yelling "NO, NO,NO" as the ball is in the air.

SWISH!
I remember that.

Whats your prediction about our next game @ CHA? Both teams off big blow out losses. Bobcats probably will be 4 point favorites. Any thoughts?

You know Brown will have that team playing defense, but they can't score with us. Bobcats are a good matchup for us because they are a team we can actually outscore. Home opener, Knicks win outright.

ZZZZZzzzz my fault...im all over the place right now, gettin ready to go to the game tonight. I forgot we have a game in between.

I'd have to look at the Bobcats splits at home before I would determine an advantage. Off roster matchups alone, I still feel advantage Knicks. Are biggest weakness is still the interior D. Though, Lee matches up better against Tyson Chandler than he would of Okafor banging on him.

Haven't heard any news on if Darko will be playing or not.

Marc Berman reports that Mike D'Antoni is already contemplating a change to the Knicks' starting lineup, one that could involve Danilo Gallinari.

Presumably Gallinari would be slotted at small forward, knocking either Jared Jeffries or Al Harrington from the starting five.

Larry Brown had positive things to say about the direction that the Knicks' organization is heading. Brown was fired as head coach in New York after one season.

"New York is a franchise that a lot of people want to play [for]. They've got a.ssets, money and they've got a good plan," Brown said.

Brown also had complimentary words for Eddy Curry's value as a low-post scorer but cautioned that the center will be in a precarious position if he does not play this season.

"If he doesn't play this year, that's going to be real hard," Brown said.

Don't put your money on me my man. I've been long out the game and haven't developed my spidey-senses in a minute.

BUT...

DJ Augustine was terrible at defending Boston's pick-n-roll with Rondo flying by him all game. And with Tyson Chandler's ankle still not at 100%, I can see the Duhon2Lee proving effective. Plus we all know Larry Brown doesn't believe in the 3 pointer, so if the Knicks are hitting the longball at a decent clip...the Knicks should win this game outright.

But i couldn't tell you how many times the Knicks blow games such as these. Games in which they are clearly the better team at that moment, means we usually tend to get spanked.

You bring insight, the play makes sense and i agree with your reasoning. Wishing i should of bet more after reading that and because now its 1.5

I threw small on Knicks +2.5 even and Gerald Wallace Over 24.5 points and rebounds

CHARLOTTE -- It took just one blowout loss for Mike D'Antoni to contemplate inserting prized prospect Danilo Gallinari into the starting lineup.

Amid the second-half wreckage of their 115-93 season-opening loss in Miami, Gallinari caught fire and hit a lucky seven 3-pointers, tying the NBA record for most 3-pointers in a season opener, according to Elias Sports Bureau.

Gallinari's 22-point outburst -- even though much of the damage was inflicted in garbage time -- has D'Antoni seriously considering promoting him to the starting lineup when the Knicks play tonight versus Larry Brown's Bobcats, who lost their season opener 92-59 in Boston.

Gallinari could replace versatile defensive specialist Jared Jeffries or the streaky Wilson Chandler, who has started the opener at shooting guard.

"I'm always going to consider it," D'Antoni said yesterday after practice. "I stayed up all night thinking about it. I don't know yet. I told them be prepared. I'm not going to change anybody's role. I'm still looking for the right combination. I want to make sure we have the right combos. It is a possibility."

D'Antoni could also look to get Nate Robinson out of his funk by elevating him to starting shooting guard over Chandler. Robinson scored one point on 0-for-8 shooting.

Wednesday's loss was troubling because the Knicks continue to shoot erratically from the perimeter dating to the preseason. Marksmanship from the 3-point line is the backbone of D'Antoni's speedball offense.

Gallinari is by far their best 3-point shooter. He was 7-of-13 on 3-pointers; the rest of the team was 3-of-26. D'Antoni may feel he needs the Italian to set an early tone.

Gallinari lost his chance to begin the season as a starter by shooting uncharacteristically poorly in the preseason. D'Antoni elected to go for defensive grit with the awful-shooting Jeffries.

"He talked to us about [a change]," Gallinari said. "He didn't know exactly."

D'Antoni is at a crossroads.

"Veteran teams, everyone has that role and know it from the get-go," D'Antoni said. "We still have not won. We're still looking for that elusive stuff. We also have a future to think about it. I want to get there sooner or later, and I will."

Gallinari and salary cap space are the future. D'Antoni feels he put too much pressure on Gallinari before training camp by calling him "the best shooter I've ever seen."

D'Antoni sometimes acts as Gallinari's personal publicist, perhaps to compensate for convincing team president Donnie Walsh to select the Milan import at No. 6 in the 2008 draft over Clippers potential All-Star Eric Gordon, who played in college in Walsh's backyard at Indiana.

As comfortable as Gallinari is from the 3-point stripe, he isn't a versatile scorer. All but one of his shot attempts Wednesday were from beyond the arc.

Gallinari admitted his mid-range game needs work.

"I think it's a part of the game I have to improve," he said.

D'Antoni said he would like to see Gallinari power to the bucket occasionally, especially if defenders close out hard at him. But the coach is satisfied as long as Gallinari is ringing up treys.

"He'll definitely mix it up," D'Antoni said. "He's not the strongest guy in the world right now. He's going to take a lot of jump shots and he's a great jump shooter. I don't think it's in his game right now to spread it out and go 1-on-1. He might never do that, but he's going to be a very smart basketball player. As he gets stronger he'll add those things to his game."

This season is as much about developing Gallinari into a star as wins and losses. And tonight might be the start.
