Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni gave a clear indication that the offseason will be eventful. Only rookie Danilo Gallinari -- and Wilson Chandler -- appear safe. "I would think we won 29 games [before last night], I don't envision anyone anywhere," D'Antoni said. "We're going to try to get better everywhere. Having said that, there's no reason he couldn't be. Anytime you win 29 games and don't make the playoffs, everything is open for discussion, everything is thrown against the wall."

Knicks guard Larry Hughes is bracing for his return tomorrow to Chicago, where he had a falling out with coach Vinnie Del Negro, leading to his month-long benching. Hughes still sounds stung by how the Bulls handled his trade. "Nobody called; I got an e-mail," he said. "It's definitely not how it should work. It was an odd situation, an embarrassment. It's under the bridge now, but I definitely want to finish my career on a positive note and let that thing go by." -- NY Post

Knicks' president Donnie Walsh announced today that guard Joe Crawford has been signed for the remainder of the season. The 6-5, 210-pound rookie had been signed to a 10-day contract on Mar. 27 and has yet to appear in a game for New York.

Knicks center Eddy Curry pledged Monday that next season will be different. Next season the Knicks' big man expects to show up in shape, ready on Day One of training camp, following an altered off-season routine he plans to concoct with team president Donnie Walsh and coach Mike D'Antoni. "We're going to come up with a plan," he said as his teammates wrapped up practice for tonight's game against his former team, the Bulls. "I'm going to stick to it and try to turn this thing around." Easy to say, of course, but the proof will come not only when training camp opens in October, but during an off-season in which he expects to wean himself away from former Bulls coach Tim Grover, with whom Curry has worked prior summers to clearly little effect. For that, the Knicks privately blame Curry's work ethic

Chris Duhon knows how important consistency is when you're paid to run a team. During his first season in New York, he wore down as he exceeded his season-high for minutes played. That was one of the reasons the Knicks have won only 30 games. Duhon already is looking forward to what shapes up as a critical offseason. He has one season left on his two-year deal, and next season he will be auditioning for a contract that extends past 2010, when the Knicks will be in the market for LeBron James and other stars. "I have the opportunity to work on some things that I can do better for next year," he said. "I can improve in the area of being more aggressive offensively, finishing better at the rim and improving my shooting on mid-range jumpers. I think it's important for me to have a more complete game." -- NY Daily News

The New York Knickerbockers President of Basketball Operations Donnie Walsh announced that forward Danilo Gallinari had successful back surgery today.

The laminotomy, performed by orthopedic spine specialist Dr. Patrick O’Leary at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan, is a surgical procedure that shaves the bony plate surrounding a nerve root. Gallinari is expected to have a full recovery in 6-8 weeks.

In 28 games this season, the 6-10, 225-pound rookie averaged 6.1 points, 2.0 rebounds and 14.7 minutes. On Mar. 4 versus Atlanta, Gallinari recorded a career-high 17 points.

Eddy Curry will meet with Knick doctors today -- his latest setback signaling an arthritic condition. Curry played just nine total minutes before shutting it down in Denver a week ago. "I was surprised, [the doctors] were surprised, too," Curry said. "There's really nothing we can do about it, just trying to control the swelling. At this point, they haven't said I need surgery. There's no real quick fix for it." Curry began the season with a bone bruise on his right knee. Then he supposedly hurt his left knee from overcompensating. D'Antoni is beyond disappointed with Curry. The coach said last weekend he expected Curry to be done for the season. Curry didn't concur. "It's disappointing," Curry said. "I'm still trying to see where I am. I haven't completely canceled the season." The Knicks plan to shop Curry but it's unlikely they'll find a taker. "I'm only concerned with being ready to go next season," Curry said. "Hopefully it's for the Knicks. I'll be ready to go if it's somebody else." -- NY Post

A specialist said that Danilo Gallinari's surgical procedure should allow him to return to full strength with no chronic pain.

"There's no reason to think that he won't be able to get back to full capacity, a.ssuming that they're doing the correct procedure," said the chief of spinal trauma at Elmhurst Hospital Center.

Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni, making $6 million this season to eradicate the losing culture, has given strong hints recently he wants only three players back next season. On Sunday in Toronto, D'Antoni said nobody is safe for next season. Last night he gave a strong indication of the three players he would like to build around. The obvious two are second-year stud Wilson Chandler and prized rookie Danilo Gallinari. But D'Antoni also gave a giant hint restricted free agent David Lee is in the plans, despite restricted free agency. Unless Lee gets a whopping offer, the Knicks will retain him. When asked about the upcoming draft, D'Antoni referenced building around those three, meaning they won't have to draft by positional need.

Nate Robinson, a free agent whom the Knicks will explore sign-and-trades, is deteriorating and costing himself a big contract. He shot 2 of 13 and finished with four points. Although Lee's numbers are extraordinary, his interior defense is poor and his inability to be a go-to player in the final minutes is troubling. However, the Knicks still feel he's a building block. -- NY Post

Knicks GM Donnie Walsh has to decide what to do with his own free agents. Chris Wilcox's contract is up, and if he's seeking a lucrative long-term deal, he's likely gone. Then there are restricted free agents David Lee and Nate Robinson, a pair of young talents. Walsh has to figure out if he wants either or both back. The asking price of both - there's whispers that Lee might try to command $10 million per season - will be a huge factor. "A player can be a good player at one number and not a good player at another number," Walsh said. -- Newsday

Jason Kidd will be a free agent this summer and the Knicks will be interested, according to Alan Hahn of Newsday.

They likely would offer him the mid-level exception for a short-term deal.

Kidd will give the point guard position some much needed depth and the Knicks hope he will also help lure free agents who will want to play with him.

New York plans on upgrading their point guard position, pushing Chris Duhon to a reserve position, the New York Daily News is reporting.

The Knicks signed Duhon from Chicago with the idea of making him a backup, but with Stephon Marbury banished from the team he quickly earned the starting job and excelled.

According to the report, a trade is not out of the question since Duhon is entering the final year of his contract.

Knick forward Al Harrington surpassed 10,000 career points during Sunday's loss to the Miami Heat, the team's official website is reporting.

Harrington passed the milestone when he drilled a 13-foot jumper for his 17th point less than three minutes into the third quarter. He has now amassed 10,005 career points in 727 games with Indiana, Atlanta, Golden State and New York.

“It was a long time coming, but I wish I could have did it and got a win,” Harrington said. “I guess that’s a lot of points and I am happy that I got to accomplish that, but I wish we would have won the game.”

there are conflicting reports regarding the draft status of jonny flynn that came out today....apparently on espn jim boeheim said that he is still 50/50...but according to theknicksblog and syracuse.com it looks as if lebron james has done a successful job of recruiting flynn for his agent leon rose who was on campus last week to give a lecture.....idk which way to lean but apparently lebron loves flynn as do the knicks.

ive been talking about this all year and would LOVE to see flynn in a knicks uniform....he is a big fan and cant wait to workout for us....this could also potentially lure lebron in a few years...what do you think?

nyknicks19.... flynn is one of the prospective PGs i would want to see on the team... BUT we shouldn't use our lotto pick on a PG unless it's jennings or rubio...

in no particular order ricky rubio, brandon jennings, ty lawson, nick calathes, jonny flynn, eric maynor and maybe greivis vasquez (but he's so damn streaky and emotional...) or patty mills (i need to see tape of him)
