well since u want Hughes, you'll probably love this

The Knicks are close to agreeing to trades that could land them forward Chris Wilcox and guard Larry Hughes, according to Marc Stein of ESPN.

The acquisitions would come in two separate trades.

The Chicago Bulls have re-acquired Tim Thomas, and once again from the New York Knicks.

According to the Chicago Tribune, the Bulls have sent Larry Hughes to New York in exchange for Thomas, Jerome James and Anthony Roberson.

Thomas had previously been traded from New York to Chicago as part of the Eddy Curry trade, but that did not turn out too well for either side, with Thomas asked to stay away until the Bulls finally bought out his contract.

emptied 2 rosters spots in the deal....P.E. 2.0 can come now if they want but i'll keep him in D-Leauge till next season

atleast we got rid of this red nosed g-unit loving f*g**t AGAIN and got rid of inconsistent Roberson

A source with knowledge of the trade disclosed it to ESPN.com, saying it was agreed to early Thursday afternoon. It was unclear whether there were any additional parts involved in the trade.

Wilcox was one of the players the Thunder had sent to New Orleans in the trade for Tyson Chandler that was voided by Oklahoma City after Chandler failed a physical. The other was Joe Smith, who would like to be bought out by the Thunder in order to sign as a free agent by the Boston Celtics, a source told ESPN.com late Wednesday night.

Both players have expiring contracts: Rose is making $7.65 million, and Wilcox earns $6.75 million.

The Chicago Bulls made their second big trade in two days on Thursday, agreeing to send Larry Hughes to the Knicks for Jerome James, Tim Thomas and Anthony Roberson, two league sources told ESPN.com.

The move comes just one day after the Bulls agreed to send Andreas Nocioni and Drew Gooden to the Sacramento Kings for Brad Miller and John Salmons.

Hughes has been in the Bulls' doghouse for some time and the two had agreed to seek a trade weeks ago. With Salmons coming to the Bulls on Wednesday, there was even less need for Hughes.

The trade is a wash financially for both teams. Hughes makes $12.8 million this year; James and Thomas make $12.2 million combined.

For the Knicks, the trade is a bigger deal. Hughes can be a dynamic scorer and fills a huge need for the Knicks in the backcourt as they continue their push toward the playoffs. The Knicks have struggled to find scoring at the two-guard since trading Jamal Crawford to the Warriors.

The Denver Nuggets are reportedly shopping their first round pick they received from Charlotte last June for to the Pacers' Jeff Foster, the Knicks' David Lee or the Bulls' Joakim Noah, Ian Thomsen from Sports Illustrated is reporting.

So far there have been no takers.

The Kings have offered Kenny Thomas to the Knicks for Nate Robinson and Jared Jeffries, sources tell ESPN.

Jeffries is slated to make $6.8 million for 10-11, which would make re-signing David Lee difficult given New York's plans to sign two max free agents in 2010.

Thomas is set to make $8.7 million next season.

This would become the third trade completed by the Knicks on Thursday should it be agreed upon.

Marc Stein is reporting that the Knicks may, in fact, have agreed to trade Nate Robinson and Jared Jeffries to the Kings for Kenny Thomas.

The move would save the Knicks about $7M per year which salary slot could be applied to retain David Lee.

We are awaiting confirmation.

Stein just said now, that this is not gonna happen

congratulations BORN LOSER....u can officially feel how i felt the day Donnie Walsh traded two of MY most hated knicks (crAWFUL and ZBO)

G-Unit Fugaazy AND BIG SNACKS???

damn u must be a pig in shyt...LMAO

but seriously...these moves were LATERAL moves. 2 marginal trades to help fill some needs (SG and another BIGman) without screwing up our 2010 plan, all while opening up a few roster slots (EW2? Douby?) and NOT TRADING Lee or Nate.

how could you not like these moves?...and trust me, im no where near a huge fan of either Hughes or Wilcox (although i loved Wilcox' game when he went to Maryland).

i think Hughes is a bum...hate to watch another CHUCKER out there, but hey, at least he plays a lil defense. He will also be able to give Duhon some much needed rest. he didnt play half bad when the bulls had some injuries earlier in the year, PLUS he'll be playing for a contract

now Wilcox seems very interesting. he's the classic UNDERACHIEVER. i think 'antonis style of play fits Chris' game. VERY athletic, moves well for a big man. he looks good in the pick-n-roll offense.

BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT THING ABOUT WILCOX : He will help us gauge the VALUE of D-Lee (as Wilcox has a similar skill set-minus the intangibles).

many people say the system INFLATEs his #'s....well we'll see. this move also gives us FLEXIBILITY in the offseason with David, cuz if Chris fits in well and plays a lil DEFENSE......he'll come on the cheap and make Lee expendable.

OVERALL

i wouldnt have minded to see the Nate trade go thru in order to rid us of jefferies contract. afterall, that IS the plan....

but these moves helped the overall balance of the roster, improved in talent, shedded us roster space...all while not hurting us

*now lets make that PLAYOFF PUSH!!!*

WALSH COMMENTS ON KNICKS TRADES

The Knicks made two separate trades on Thursday ahead of the NBA deadline, acquiring Chris Wilcox and Larry Hughes.

"I think Wilcox gives us strength up front," Knicks' president Donnie Walsh said about one of his two acquisitions on trade day. "The way Mike [D'Antoni] plays, he can play center or power forward. He has a body which, we don’t have a lot of that on our team. Larry Hughes is a guy that can score points and create his own shot, and I think that’s also very good in Mike’s system."

Walsh thinks the moves boost the Knicks' chances of making the playoffs this season, while not affecting their 2010 plan.

"We want to be competitive, but we don’t want to interfere with being in the free-agent market the summer after next," Walsh said. "I hope this will make us more competitive. I feel like it can."

Walsh said the ESPN rumor that had the Knicks about to part with Nate Robinson, shipping him to Sacramento and dumping Jared Jeffries' salary in the process, was untrue.

"I don’t know where that rumor got started, but it was absolutely bogus," Walsh said.

Earlier on Thursday, Robinson told Alan Hahn of Newsday that he wanted to be "a Knick for life."

The Knicks opened up two roster spots with Thursday's deadline-day trades but Walsh said he has not decided which players to sign to fill these spots
