The Knicks are trying to reclaim a little respect from skeptical fans and pundits. David Lee and Al Harrington were criticized for sounding satisfied with close losses during those defeats at Madison Square Garden. Lee called it "the best 0-3 week I think I've ever had." Harrington referred to the Cleveland game as "a feel-good loss." Jeff Van Gundy, a former Knicks coach and now a television analyst, chastised Lee during a national broadcast. Lee said he was merely trying to stay positive. "I didn't say, 'Man, that was a fun week.' It was an awful week," Lee said. "It's terrible we were 0-3, but at that point, it's not about looking back on the week, it's about looking forward." -- NY Times

There is a very good reason why Mike D'Antoni never debated whether to foul or not foul Brandon Roy in the closing seconds of Sunday's stunning loss to Portland. "To be honest with you," D'Antoni said, "I didn't know there was a foul to give. I screwed up." D'Antoni's admission came one day after Roy beat the Knicks with a layup as time expired. The Blazers fully expected the Knicks to give a foul as soon as Portland inbounded the ball with 4.3 seconds to play. Jared Jeffries had a chance to grab Roy 35 feet from the basket but instead the Blazers' All-Star guard drove past Jeffries and made a layup over David Lee to hand the Knicks their fourth straight loss. "No confusion. I screwed up, period," D'Antoni said after Monday's practice at a local sports club. "That's my responsibility, I made a mistake." -- NY Daily News

Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni would not commit to keeping rookie Danilo Gallinari in the starting lineup tonight. "I don't know yet," he said. "I might just change it up and change it up and change it up. Every game, we try to find the right combo that works the best and go with it." --Newsday

okay the trade deadline is approaching time to make a huge moves donnie

lee nate jeffries eddy next years 2nd rounder, our 2011 first rounder
for amare barbosa and goran dragovic

and malik rose + duhon denvers 2nd rounder for monta ellis + marcus williams

at the end of the year offer marcus williams a 3 year 7.5 mil contract

that would leave us with
44 mil on the books for 2010 + this years 1st and 2nd rounder so lets call it 49mil and thats 9 players....

amare monta barbosa williams dragic chandler gallinari this years 1st and 2nd...
thats a pretty decent 3/4 roster... especially for the price

we could sign PE2 to a 3 year have enough for a max lets sayyyy LeBron
and we could use the mid level exception for the 12 man...

monta leandro chandler lebron amare (3 of the fastest players in the L)

gallinari PE2 marcus williams Dragic Mid Level Exception(tim thomas) our 1st(athletic big) and 2nd rounder(athletic big)

Amid the frenzy of rumors surfacing about the seeming inevitability of the Suns trading Amar'e Stoudemire by the Feb. 19 deadline, there's been little mention of the Knicks, considering that Mike D'Antoni and two of his a.ssistants coached the athletic big man in Phoenix. There's little talk because a source familiar with the team's thinking says D'Antoni and Co. aren't exactly fond of Stoudemire, particularly his defense and overall focus. They're even less interested if getting him means surrendering David Lee -- unless they also could shed either Eddy Curry's or Stephon Marbury's salary in a deal. One Internet report "suggested" a Lee-Marbury-Nate Robinson package for Stoudemire and Leandro Barbosa. -- Bergen Record

Al Harrington can opt out of the final year of his contract this summer, but he has not stated his intentions since arriving in New York. He would be giving up a guaranteed $10 million. "Wow," Harrington said after hearing Warriors coach Don Nelson's comments, saying they had never discussed money. "So I think he just made that up. You know him. I didn't say that." He then affirmed the obvious: "I didn't like him. And he didn't like me." -- NY Times

Knicks forward Al Harrington took another dig at Don Nelson while expressing concern for his former teammate Anthony Randolph, a young prospect who has struggled to gain Nelson's trust. Harrington said he had advised Randolph to "remain positive and try to weather this Nellie storm, because he's been known to ruin guys' careers." -- NY Times

Eddy Curry has told the New York Post that he plans on returning to practice after the All-Star break, and the only thing which is keeping him off the court is his injured knee.

Curry declined to discuss the bloody Chicago murders in which the mother of two of his kids was murdered. A 1-year-old daughter was also k!lled and, reportedly, she is Curry's child. His 3-year-old son witnessed the k!llings.

Curry said basketball is now an escape.

"This is the time I'm really looking forward to it," Curry said at the Knicks' shootaround in San Francisco before the club faced Golden State. "I wish I could just take a magic pill and make my legs better and make me go out and do what I need to do. I'm enjoying all my time around these guys and organization because it's like a safe house for me."

Knicks president Donnie Walsh called the Suns about Amare Stoudemire recently, but a source indicates that New York isn't a possible destination for the Phoenix forward.

"The sense was they wouldn't do anything with New York," one person with knowledge of the situation said.

In search of some normalcy, center Eddy Curry has re-joined the Knicks and is working on his conditioning and rehabilitating his sore right knee.

"I'm OK," Curry said Tuesday in his first public comments since the murder of his ex-girlfriend in Chicago.

"Honestly, I really don't want to talk about anything other than basketball, than me getting back on the court, because I feel like there's been enough circulating about Eddy Curry, about my life and all that stuff, other than basketball."

last nights loss was as rediculous as they come....

but if you couldnt tell it was gunna be a JOKE OF A GAME after Harrington hit his first shot and threw his hands up at the crowd, then you're a bigger joke than this team right now.

how are you people gunna give AL HARRINGTON a PASS night in and night out? with his selfish play, no defense, no ball movement and simply CHUCKING up shot after shot.

yet...

u bash D-Lee in every post talkin about his DEFENSE...

it boggles my mind.

the guy doesnt call for the rock, he simply plays within the flow of the game. hes EFFICIENT!!! granted we know his weakness is strength and D...but C'MON!!! at least he makes the effort EVERY NIGHT

i dont think ive HATED being a knick fan more NOW (while i have no expectations while we rebuild) than even in the isiah era.....not becuase im frustrated and hating on my team...i simply cant stand SOME / most (lol) Knicks fans
