Jan 18 - Dame Dash 2 Jim & Cam I love them to death but theyíre doing what women do

Dame Dash: Changing Lanes Part Two
By Amanda Diva

You read Part One of Dame Dashís exclusive interview with AllHipHop.com, hereís the fiery Part TwoÖ

AllHipHop.com: You said earlier that once you reach a certain point that you have to change, evolve and expand. A lot of the criticism that Iíve heard in relation to you is that it seems like in the past youíve presented success to mean, ďIíve expanded to where White people accept me now, thatís how Iím on a new level.Ē But today, in speaking on your expansion, youíve spoken a lot about African-Americans.

Dame Dash: My take on that is I never asked anybody to give me anything, I earned. When I went into a room, itís not for somebody to cut me a check, itís for me to employ somebody. I didnít want anyone to give me a sneaker deal; I wanted the whole company. When I do that, I donít have to be accepted by anybody. The only thing people accept is red ink and black ink. If youíre in the red, youíre losing. If youíre in the black, youíre winning. Thatís it for me, I went and hired a president I didnít go and look for a president to hire me. I go through with the hat tilted to the side and Iím Dame Dash. I donít wanna have to kiss nobodyís a.ss to do nothing, ever.

AllHipHop.com: Whatís your and Biggsí connection?

Dame Dash: Thatís my best friend. He and I do Block Savvy and Armandale together. Overall, every boss needs a consigliore, and Iím not saying Biggs is my consigliore, but weíre each othersí. Weíre both bosses, and thatís the reason why at Roc-A-Fella, I think everything worked. Heís the only guy thatís from where Iím from that can actually tell me, ďYo Dame, youíre bugginí,Ē and if heís bugginí, I can tell him, ďYo Biggs youíre bugginí.Ē Weíre partners on a lot of things, and weíre both each othersí consigliore on a lot of things as well.

AllHipHop.com: Speaking of friends, you appeared on a song with Jim Jones called ďKingdom DoneĒ, going at Jay, which sparked the whole situation which had been bubbling for quite a while anyway between him and Diplomats.

Dame Dash: I donít think that sparked it, but just so you know, I didnít make the record. Iím not an artist, I would never do that.

AllHipHop.com: So you werenít dissing Jay?

Dame Dash: Did it sound like I was dissing Jay?

AllHipHop.com: No, but it seemed like a co-signÖ

Dame Dash: All I spoke about was Jimmy and Jimmyís album, and again, Iím telling you now that skit got made months ago. I think Jimmy even said so. Again, Jimmy just took that and edited it. Those are like my little brothers. He called me after to see if I was mad about it or whatever, and I just donít even care, 'cause Iím not involved. I'm 35; I've chosen not to be in rap no more. I hear about things and I see records that are being made about and stuff, and I'm disappointed, 'cause I would never do that, you know what I'm sayin'? I will never have a beef with anybody on vinyl. Iím not a rapper, and for me to try to would be corny, 'cause I'm compromising my brand. But on another level, what am I gonna do, have a beef with Jay-Z? Look at everything we did, that would be dumb. That would be the stupidest thing on the planet for me to have a war with Jay-Z. Actually, for me to have a war with any rapper would be dumb, but for me to do that would be retarded. Now, I could look and see what's going on, and it's entertaining. I could see what moves are made, and the next move, entertainment-wise, but keep me out of it. I'm hearing my name in a lot of little things, and I'm very surprised at it, 'cause that's not the cloth we're cut from.

AllHipHop.com: You werenít upset at all? In essence, Jim threw you into the fireÖ

Dame Dash: If Jay had a problem with me because of our relationship and the dynamics and the men that weíre supposed to be, men talk about things. We donít go and do things on records. I seen Jay after Camís thing, and I heard he thought I had Cam do that. I said ďYo, you wanna talk about it?Ē He said, ďNo,Ē Aight, keep it moving, we ainít got nothing to talk about.

AllHipHop.com: He did on the record.

Dame Dash: Thatís not how men holler at each other; Iím not a rapper. They always do that, Jimmy and Cam I love them to death, but theyíre doing what women do. Iím definitely not gonna get angry at them about that. Iím not starting a beef with them, but Iím not starting a beef with anybody.

AllHipHop.com: Did you hear the ďLost OnesĒ record?

Dame Dash: Of course I heard it. Again, honestly, I was just surprised, like, "Damn." On two levels I was surprised: on one tier I was like ďDamn, this n***a k!lled The Dynasty because he felt I wanted to be famous?Ē Number two, if thatís the case, why he ainít never pull me aside and say that? "Dame, you bugginí." Number two: makin' records about your man like that? So you gonna a.ssassinate my character to sell a record? I was disappointed on a lot of levels.

AllHipHop.com: I believe it's the next single.

Dame Dash: I know it is. Again, I'm not gonna get into that. We just kinda laugh at it. But I definitely was surprised and disappointed. Think about this: did you ever think that five or 10 years ago Jay and Nas would be making records about Dame Dash? Iím not gonna be a part of that, because thatís the ultimate level of corniness. I will never compromise the history I made by doing something that corny.

AllHipHop.com: What are your thoughts on Jayís album?

Dame Dash: Iím not feeliní it. I canít even objectively speak on it. I would be a fool to come back and make a record unless itís as good as or better than anything Iíve done. Unless I make history, Iím not coming back, thatís my thing. Iím gonna go and make history with other things, I already made history here. How many times can you make history at the same place? Thatís like thinking lightningís gonna strike twice. ďOh. it hit here, so Iím gonna stay here.Ē Nah, Iím gonna go somewhere else to find lightning. Thatís what Iím tryna do, but again, I look at things differently. I have confidence in myself; I believe I can make it big anywhere. I donít think Iím just a big fish in a little pond; Iím a big fish in anybodyís pond, urban and non-urban.

AllHipHop.com: Whatís the problem with our culture and whatís the way to fix it?

Dame Dash: The problem is that we glorify people outside of the culture and we consider that aspiration as opposed to saying weíre the ones that people keep exploiting and making money from. Weíre the ones that are the strong ones and know how to make the money. I think thatís the thing that thereís always been a problem with. I donít respect certain people because they pretend theyíre bigger than they are.

AllHipHop.com: Is that your problem with Steve Stoute?

Dame Dash: My problem with Steve Stoute is he went and testified against somebody; I donít like that. [In] the cloth that Iím cut from, thatís considered a rat bastard. I donít do business with rat bastards. I donít care if he gets me billions, the fact of the matter is if youíre getting money with a snitch, youíre a snitch. Just because it ainít drugs, you testify and try to put another man in jail. You sue a n***a because he hit you, thatís a snitch to me. The reason why Iím gonna publicly say that against another Black man is because I donít want people to think itís alright to publicly get money with a snitch. Iím gonna make people really understand what that means. Sometimes I ask people, ďYo, you understand what a snitch is?Ē Testifying. If a n***a hit somebody in the head with a bottle and tries to hit him in the head saying, ďUnless you pay me some money, Iím putting you in jail,Ē or you try to get the n***a who donít got no money put in jail which was Puffís bodyguard and all them. It ainít for me to be talking all that manís business really, but thatís a rat.

AllHipHop.com: So are you happy now that you arenít in the music business?

Dame Dash: You donít even understand. The thing is, again, I donít have to worry anymore. What I used to be yelling about was I used to be like, ďYo, I need to get this done.Ē Next day, did it [get] done? No. Next day, did it get done? No. Next day, Iím calling, and no one is calling me back, now my ego is f**ked with Ďcause Iím like, ďYo Iím Damon Dash, you ainít called me back yet. Did you get it done?Ē ďNo.Ē ďYo! You messiní with my money!Ē Another thing I used to get mad about was people trying to take the credit. People remember in Backstage when I got so mad at Kevin Liles. I was mad because he was compromising my brand. He was trying to get branding on something that I built, I was building my brand. Roc-A-Fella does this, not Def Jam. Iíve always protected my brand, so if you do something to compromise my brand, which in turn is gonna take care of my kids, I get upset. Again, you know how long it takes to build a brand thatís consistent at something? If Iím known for being the best, unless Iím the best, I ainít doing it.

Wow there's actually some intelligence under all that flashy and c*cky exterior. Dude made some points. I'm still a little on edge about the whole snitch phenomenon but if dude was snitching to make money or to get over on someone then Dame is 100% right. He's also got a point about Jay-Z. They both seem to be money hungry wh0ores but it seems Dame goes about it with a little more dignity than Jay.

Jay-Z is Mike Jordan.

Dame is Magic Johnson.

And I'm talking business wise not basketball wise.

He said it was corny for them to be working together and they both dissing dame dash. Nas been dissed em both, now jigga makes up with Nas, then starts dissing his homey Dame. That's a straight cornball. If you can make up with someone like nas, why you airing out family businesswith dame over wax instead of coming at him like a real n*gga.

I also need info on that steve stout snitching situation.

Nobody knows the hole truth that went on with jay and dame, we can sit here and say well dame did this and jay did that so thats why jay said this and dame said that! theres always two sides to every story period....them dudes are business men and who were hustlers you forget that they still have that mentality! with jay doing lost ones thats his own all hiphop interview whats the difference from dame doing an interview and jay doing lost ones? there is none I could see how they both changed from there status of being super stars. But for Def jam's buy out of rocafella everyone from jay z to dame were takin care of he never mentions how much he was bought out for thats why he can say he's not mad at anyone. So i feel what he's saying but then again there is two sides to every story and maybe one day them n*ggas would work out whatever and be cool again you never know. The hole Nas sh*t to me is just business though jay is doing that only for def jam thats it! def jam and hip hop not for dame dashes to love and enjoy! he hates rap he wants to sell clothes and liquor

I feel what dame is sayin, but what is the difference from him doin a interview and talkin bout the situation and Jay doin a track about it. Dame cant get mad that more people goin listein to the song that Jay did and take his side then go read his article. But whateva both them nigggas was money hungry and it just looks that Jay got the better of him. Now he cryin.
