Nothing special, has some good songs, but its just decent. I'm going to give it some more last thorough listens because other than Black Republicans and Can't k!ll Me, I don't even listen to this album...like since when it came out was the last time I played it all the way through. 3.5 to me still so far.

Looking back, I really don't find this album as classic, its rather mediocre for NaS actually. It is a good album though.

1) Money Over Bullsh*t - Good opening track. Catchy hook sets the tone for the album.
Production/Beats – 5 *****
Lyrical Content/Flow – 4 ****
Overall track rating – 9/10 Possible Points -

2) You Can’t k!ll Me - Nas shows off his storytelling skills here. Chorus somewhat awkward, but overall a decent track.
Production/Beats – 4 ****
Lyrical Content/Flow – 4 ****
Overall track rating – 8/10 Possible Points

3) Carry On Tradition – This track starts to explain why Nas decided to call this album Hip-Hop Is Dead. Overall a very powerful song. Solid production.
Production/Beats – 4 ****
Lyrical Content/Flow – 5 *****
Overall track rating – 9/10 possible points

4) Where Are They Now? – Nas pays homage to some of the greats of the past. Notice, it’s the 4th track in and no guest appearances or album fillers yet. Great concept for the album.
Production/Beats – 5 ****
Lyrical Content/Flow – 5 *****
Overall track rating – 10/10 possible points

5) Hip-Hop Is Dead – Solid production from will.i.am and catchy hook make this a good choice for the leadoff single.
Production/Beats – 5 *****
Lyrical Content/Flow – 4 *****
Overall track rating – 9/10 possible points

6) Who k!lled It? – Interesting concept, a ton of subliminal goodies in this one. Somewhat awkward at first but grows on you by the 4th or 5th play.
Production/Beats – 3 ***
Lyrical Content/Flow – 5 *****
Overall track rating – 8/10 possible points

7) Black Republicans - The long awaited Nas/Jay-Z track delivered with solid effort form both rappers, and a great production to boot.
Production/Beats – 5 *****
Lyrical Content/Flow – 5 ****
Overall track rating – 10/10 possible points

8) Not Going Back – Solid track, solid hook, solid production, solid lyrics. Not much else to say. Kelis featured on the chorus. Very underrated track.
Production/Beats – 4 ****
Lyrical Content/Flow – 4 ****
Overall track rating – 8/10 possible points

9) Still Dreaming – The first of 2 Kanye produced tracks on the album. Chrissette Michele helps nail the chorus. The combination makes for another great track.
Production/Beats – 4 ****
Lyrical Content/Flow – 4 *****
Overall track rating – 8/10 possible points

10) Hold Down The Block – Beat sounds like it came straight off Illmatic. Very insightful track, with some of Nas’ more thoughtful lyrics included here.
Production/Beats – 5 *****
Lyrical Content/Flow – 5 *****
Overall track rating – 10/10 possible points

11) Blunt Ashes – Produced interestingly enough, by NBA player Chris Webber. Somewhat awkward flow. Nas thoughtfully reflects on the deaths of Donny Hathaway & Phyllis Hyman.
Production/Beats – 4 ****
Lyrical Content/Flow – 4 ****
Overall track rating – 8/10 possible points

12) Let There Be Light – More Kanye production & an amazing hook from rising star Tre Williams make this perhaps the best song on the album. Very soulful sound, & lyrics to match.
Production/Beats – 5 *****
Lyrical Content/Flow – 5 *****
Overall track rating – 10/10 possible points

13) Play On Playa – Not Nas best lyrical track, but still delivers, as he switches up his flow on a west coast style beat. Snoop is one of the rare featured guests, which makes for a solid track.
Production/Beats – 4 ****
Lyrical Content/Flow – 4 ****
Overall track rating – 8/10 possible points

14) Can’t Forget About You – The second single, sampled from Nat King Coles version, of the same name. Chrisette Michelle delivers a good hook once again. Nas reflects on the past.
Production/Beats – 5 ****
Lyrical Content/Flow – 5 *****
Overall track rating – 10/10 possible points

15) Hustlers – Not Nas’ best lyrical work but far form an album filler. Dr. Dre comes through with a great beat, and The Game adds a bit of west coast flavor to make it a quality track.
Production/Beats – 5 ****
Lyrical Content/Flow – 4 *****
Overall track rating – 9/10 possible points

16) 2 Versions of this song, one with a beat and one A-cappella version. Both versions close off the album well, with Nas’ once again explaining his thoughts on the current state of Hip-Hop as the album closes out.
Production/Beats – 4 ****
Lyrical Content/Flow – 4 *****
Overall track rating – 8/10 possible points

thats mad biased guy, 'Where are they now' is sh*t production wise. Also many of these tracks offer nothing to the main theme.

I have to disagree with you because i think where are they now is a dope record and the remixes where crazy too. And the production just added more intensity to the lyrics.

Secondly, maybe a track or 2 didnt follow the main theme but those tracks make a statement for me of how diversified hip hop can be content-wise. Because most of today's "mainstream" hip hop could be alot more than just drug sellin and havin money.

naw... that sampling was hot

I gove the credit to the producer who took that james brown song and sampled it to where you can spit on it
