I got a signed Green jersey too, i was hoping he was gonna have a nice career in Boston...

People need to stop crying about the C's winning. The "buying the championship" bullshirs really old. the point of sports is to win it all, not suck. You guys are making it seem like what Ainge did was wrong. Money doesnt always buy rings (look at the Yankees...what is it, 200 mil? and they suck). You guys need to stop crying and face the facts, the C's are the best team in the NBA.

So who should we draft?

I'd like an explosive 2 guard.. Who can handle the rock as well. Hopefully Pruitt can play the back up PG this year and House coming off to rain three's. Our forwards are stacked for the future with Big Baby and Leon. I'm hoping Leon gets 25-30 mins a game this year. Doc be fu*king up the rotation a lot.

Posey loves Boston

According to James Posey's agent, Posey wants to come back. It was pretty obvious that Posey loved his teammates, but it is still a business decision. I hope we can do what it takes to re sign him.

This is what Posey's agent, Mark Bartlestein said:
“The bottom line is that we want to get it done. The thing (that impressed) Posey is that the fans in Boston are so educated, they understand why he’s so valuable, and how his play shows with things that aren’t on the stat sheet.”

Celtics draft choices

J.R. Giddens
1st round, 30th overall pick
School: New Mexico
Ht.: 6-5; Wt.: 200; Age: 23
2007-08 averages Pts: 16.3; FG: .516
Reb: 8.8; FT: .586
Ast: 3.1; 3-pt: .333
Stl: 1.4; Blk: 1.2
Notable: Giddens started at Kansas, earning All-Big 12 freshman team honors, but transferred (some might say pushed away) after a disappointing sophomore season and a campus-area brawl on May 19, 2005, during which he was stabbed in his right calf . . . Sat out the 2005-06 season per NCAA transfer rules . . . Led New Mexico with 15.8 ppg as a junior and was honorable mention in the Mountain West Conference . . . As a senior, he was the MWC co-player of the year, ranked fourth in the MWC in scoring, and became the first guard in conference history to lead the MWC in rebounds.

Bill Walker
Acquired from Washington
2d round, 47th overall pick
School: Kansas State
Position: SF
Ht.: 6-6 Wt.: 235 Age: 20
2007-08 averages Scoring: 16.1 FG pct.: .465
Rebounds: 6.3 FT pct.: .737
Assists: 1.9 3-pt pct.: .307
Steals: 0.9 Blocks: 0.5
Notable: Walker was a redshirt freshman last season after rupturing the ACL in his left knee in January 2007, cutting short his initial year at Kansas State . . . He ranked second on the Wildcats in nearly every category behind No. 2 overall pick Michael Beasley . . . Third-team All-Big 12 by the a.ssociated Press, and a third-teamer on the freshman All-America team . . . Scouts say his body is NBA-ready . . . K-State coach Frank Martin called him one of the smartest players he's ever coached.

Semih Erden
2d round, 60th overall pick
Team: Fenerbahce Ulker (Turkey)
Position: C
Ht.: 7-1 Wt.: 240 Age: 21
2007-08 averages Scoring: 6.7 FG pct.: .500
Rebounds: 4.3 FT pct.: .675
Assists: 0.6 3-pt pct.: .000
Steals: 0.7 Blocks: 0.9
Notable: Averaged only 20 minutes per game in Euroleague, but showed glimpses on offense with his ability to finish around the basket . . . Offense becomes inconsistent outside the paint . . . For his size, he's been criticized for lacking defensive intensity . . . Is a regular on Turkey's national team . . . Presumably will stay overseas to develop.

say goodbye to T. Allen. It's unfortunate wats happened to Tony since he's been here, i remember how he was his rookie year doin put back dunks with his chin above the rim, & his on the ball D was ridiculous. Then the injuries happened & his head was never right after that, sad really....Giddens/Walker will take his place, & im sure Tony/Scals will be packaged in a deal for some like Desmond Mason or some one dimensional has been. Scals is a waste & they'll use Tony to get rid of him. It's obvious where Ainge is goin drafting 2 of the same type players. & That Turkish dude is another big that shoots 3's like scals

Posey to opt out today

The Globe's Marc J. Spears writes today that, in a move that shouldn't come as a surprise, James Posey will opt out of the second and final year of his contract with the Celtics.

The move will make Posey an unrestricted free agent, but both the Celtics and Posey have expressed an interest in reuniting during the offseason.

From Spears: Celtics forward James Posey's agent, Mark Bartelstein, said his client will opt out of the second and final year of his contract today. The move will make the versatile Posey an unrestricted free agent, but Bartelstein has also said his client wants to return to Boston. When asked about whether Posey, who averaged 7.4 points per game this season, will be re-signed, Celtics general manager Danny Ainge said Saturday: "I'd hate to say whether or not we will be able to. We'll see what happens." Free agency begins tomorrow.

ESPN's Chad Ford ranks the best available free agents and has Posey at No. 7among this year's crop of unrestricted free agents. Ford writes: "Posey helped himself with a strong performance against the Lakers in the Finals. He's another player who should get a three- to four-year midlevel deal somewhere."

Early offseason rumblings have the Lakers and Hornets among potential suitors for Posey's services. New Orleans freed up some space when it traded its No. 27 pick in the 2008 NBA Draft to Portland in exchange for $3 million cash.

From the a.ssociated Press:

James Posey recently earned a championship ring with the Boston Celtics. Corey Maggette has indicated he's ready to leave the Los Angeles Clippers to get one.
Either one could help the rising young Hornets contend for an NBA title, so long as New Orleans can afford what those players are asking in free agency.

The Hornets' draft-night maneuvering should help with that.

After falling one victory shy of advancing to the Western Conference finals, the New Orleans Hornets began working out prospective draftees - more than 40 in fact. It soon became clear to general manager Jeff Bower and head coach Byron Scott that what the Hornets really needed to contend for a championship was not an untested rookie but a proven player.

"When we looked at the 27th pick and all the guys we brought in, we tried to look at those guys objectively and think if any of those guys could help us next year, immediately," Scott said. "It was our opinion there really wasn't anybody there that could help us. If we could trade the pick, sell the pick, whatever the case may be, the bigger picture is trying to get a veteran guy who can come in here and help us right away."

To make a run at some of the better players in free agency, which begins July 1, the Hornets needed as much financial flexibility as possible. Hence the decision, made official during Thursday night's NBA draft, to trade their only draft choice, the 27th overall, to the Portland Trail Blazers for about $3 million cash.

Walker to have surgery

Celtics second-round pick Bill Walker will have knee surgery tomorrow and is expected to be out of action for 3-4 weeks. Walker injured his right knee during a workout this month for Golden State, and the surgery is expected to be minor.

Walker, a 6-6, 235-pounder, averaged 16.1 points and 6.3 rebounds as a redshirt freshman for Kansas State while playing alongside Michael Beasley, the second pick in the draft.

The 20-year-old Walker played six games for the Wildcats as a true freshman before suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

The Celtics sent cash considerations to the Washington Wizards for the 47th pick in the draft, which they used to draft Walker.

WALTHAM -- The Celtics introduced first-round draft pick J.R. Giddens (30th overall) and second-round draft selections Bill Walker (47th overall) and Semih Erden (60th overall) today at their training facility here (see photos of their visit here). Walker was acquired from the Washington Wizards on draft night in exchange for cash considerations.

The three sat at a table on the practice court with general manager Danny Ainge and were given crisp Celtics jerseys and caps for the photo op. Giddens was handed a No. 4 jersey, Erden a No. 86, and Walker a No. 12.

Giddens and Walker both said they were "blessed" to be here.

"You guys are the defending world champions and coming here is just a dream come true," Giddens said.

"I worked all my life to be able to have the opportunity to be an NBA player and I got a chance to come and play with one of the best organizations in the business," Walker said.

Walker will have right knee surgery tomorrow at New England Baptist Hospital and he said he expects rehabilitation to take 3-4 weeks before he can play basketball.

Erden is still under a 1-year contract with Fenerbache Ulker Istanbul in Turkey.

An interpreter spoke for Erden saying, "He definitely wants to come to the NBA, the Boston Celtics. He has one more year on his contract. He doesn't want to sign a new contract. He wants to see what it his opportunity in here."

In other news, the Celtics hung their 17th NBA Championship banner inside the practice facility today...Ainge said he has been in touch with free agents but didn't comment further. He also said the team made an undisclosed contract offer to unrestricted free agent James Posey.
