Yearby, a junior who is committed to FSU's 2014 class, rushed for 125 yards, while Cook rushed for 79 yards in the state championship vs Gainesville.....try again

Yearby is all around better its not even close...he's tougher, has more moves, can take more carries.....only thing Cook is better at is he's faster

only reason stats are close junior year is because miami central's oline blocks better for Cook, they be hatin on Yearby

Cook finished his junior season with 1,452 yards rushing and 21 touchdowns, while Yearby rushed for 1,448 yards and 20 scores.

As a sophomore in 2011, Yearby became the first underclassman in Dade history to eclipse the 2,000-yard mark with 2,160 yards and 24 touchdowns. Cook rushed for 876 yards and nine touchdowns last season as a sophomore.

man our offense is gonna be fu*ken sick in these next 2-3 years.....

Morris, then Olsen...followed by Duke and possible Cook and Sony if they come here....then you got Sandland and Dobard....and Coley, Dorsett, Lewis, and Waters

This can be something special no doubt....need to get that Oline straight and improve on defense and I can see us winning 10 games easily.

Miami Central COOK >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Comments:14 Add a comment The focus on Miami’s 2014 recruiting class only started yesterday, but the anticipation has been building for much longer. The Hurricanes will likely have a larger class overall and the South Florida crop looks stronger and deeper than it was in 2013.

Dalvin Cook

From a recruiting perspective, Miami has reached a point where they aren’t lacking for numbers at many positions. That may seem like a given but it’s definitely a good sign. Considering where the program has been at various points over the past five years, that hasn’t always been the case.

While they might not be lacking numbers, what they do lack in at certain spots is high quality. Miami doesn’t have enough game changers, play-makers, elite national names, whatever label that gets attached. InsideTheU.com takes a look at the Hurricanes’ top three positions of need for the 2014 recruiting class.

Running Back

Miami badly wanted an elite prospect in the 2013 class who would be able to carry the load immediately alongside Duke Johnson. They didn’t land their top targets which makes that an even bigger priority in 2014.

Luckily, their top targets are right up the street in American Heritage’s Sony Michel and Miami Central’s Dalvin Cook. Both are high on Miami, both are elite prospects, and both have been well established for a long time.

The Canes also have offers out to Norcross’ (Ga.) Myles Autry, St. Peter’s Prep’s (N.J.) Jonathan Hilliman, Gainesville’s Tony James, and Cathedral’s (Calif.) Kurt Scoby.

Defensive Tackle

Miami was in search of two prospects in the 2013 class but they weren’t able to get any. It was particularly disappointing since they missed out on some talented local options.

Just like running back however, their top 2014 options happen to be in South Florida. Chaminade-Madonna’s Khairi Clark and St. Thomas Aquinas’ Anthony Moten both got Miami offers back in May. They’ve been regulars around the program and the Canes likely lead the way for both.

Oscar Smith’s (Va.) Andrew Brown also has a Miami offer but he’s a longshot. He’s a top five overall prospect and the number one defensive tackle in the nation.

Safety

This position may seem like a curious choice but remember, recruiting can be more about the future than the present. Miami has some promising talent like Deon Bush, Rayshawn Jenkins, and newly signed Jamal Carter.

However, they will only have three safeties on the roster after the departure of rising seniors A.J. Highsmith and Kacy Rodgers.

They’ve already ventured out of state to seriously pursue St. Joseph Regional’s (N.J.) Kiy Hester. He seems to be quite receptive to their advances and he’s close with a couple of Miami’s New Jersey signees. Bayside’s (Va.) Quin Blanding is the nation’s number one safety and the Canes have made his cut down to ten schools. That will be a tough pull and Godby’s Deion Singleton also has an offer.

University School’s Quincy Wilson is a prospect the fans have been asking about for months. His father played at Miami in the 90s and he has over 25 offers but the Canes have paid him little attention.

shout out to my FSU goon on here... i see you

T. 2

OL Kc McDermott

School: Palm Beach Central
Size: 6-6, 285
Ratings: Four stars, grade of 97, #23 overall prospect, #3 OT, #3 player in Florida
The Basics: McDermott comes from a football family with an offensive line flavor. He has always been ahead of the curve because of that. The difference is that he has ideal measurables compared to his two brothers. His older brother by four years, Shane, is currently Miami’s starting center.
Where Miami Stands: Not only is he personally close with Coach Kehoe but his family’s relationship with the five time national champion dates way back. He has visited campus numerous times, both for his own reasons and to see his brother. Sometimes he seems more like a fan than a recruit with how well he knows the Canes.
InsideTheU.com’s Last Update: Three Stand Out to OL McDermott

DE Keyon Brown

School: Hardee
Size: 6-3, 230
Ratings: Four stars, grade of 91, #189 overall prospect, #10 WDE, #21 player in Florida
The Basics: Brown is from a small town and his school hasn’t produced a division one football recruit in over ten years. His team finished 4-6 this past year but he still racked up 17 sacks. He has good speed off the edge and has been a terrorizing pass rusher for a couple years now.
Where Miami Stands: He has visited Miami three times already and they have really benefitted from other schools dragging their feet. He’s had a lot of contact with Coach Franklin while Florida, Florida State, and South Carolina are still waiting to offer. It’s somewhat surprising considering he’s a pretty highly touted prospect.
InsideTheU.com’s Last Update: DE Brown Close To More Offers

DE Chad Thomas

School: Booker T. Washington
Size: 6-4, 230
Ratings: Three stars, grade of 88, #23 WDE, #44 player in Florida
The Basics: Thomas is underrated but his offer list speaks for itself. He’s long and athletic in the mold of his teammate, Matthew Thomas, even though there’s no relation. He played a big role on the Tornadoes defense that helped them bring home a state title.
Where Miami Stands: Miami was in Thomas’ top three but that was before the Denver Kirkland fiasco. There’s no telling how much that may or may not have impacted his thinking. Everything appeared on track before that so only time will reveal where things stand with him at the moment.
InsideTheU.com’s Last Update: DE Thomas Talks Miami

DT Khairi Clark

School: Chaminade-Madonna
Size: 6-3, 285
Ratings: Four stars, grade of 96, #46 overall prospect, #4 DT, #7 player in Florida
The Basics: Clark can stake a claim to being the best defensive tackle in South Florida since Marcus Forston in the 2008 class. If he can work on his conditioning, his potential is through the roof. He has rare physical gifts and scary quickness. Over the past two seasons, he has 120 tackles and 17 sacks.
Where Miami Stands: He doesn’t discuss his recruitment all that often but Miami gets mentioned every time he does. They’re probably in front based on how much he’s followed them and how early they started their pursuit. However, he has offers from everybody and he’s excited about exploring some new options.
InsideTheU.com’s Last Update: DT Clark Impressed By Golden

DT Anthony Moten

School: St. Thomas Aquinas
Size: 6-4, 279
Ratings: None
The Basics: Moten has played a lot of defensive end but he’s headed towards a future on the inside. He’s always proven to be stout against the run and his technique is well refined due to the coaching he receives. He has two state titles to his name and will be looking to three-peat in the fall.
Where Miami Stands: He has been a regular on campus and his first offer was from the Hurricanes. His family is also comfortable with the idea of him remaining close to home. He’s very good friends with his former teammate, and current Miami defensive end, Jelani Hamilton.
InsideTheU.com’s Last Update: DL Moten Back At UM For Junior Day

S Kiy Hester

School: Montvale (N.J.) St. Joseph Regional
Size: 6-2, 200
Ratings: Four star, grade of 92, #172 overall prospect, #15 ATH, #6 player in New Jersey
The Basics: Hester likely projects as a safety but he also has experience at cornerback and wide receiver. He transferred during the season, keeping him from great stats, but he did bring home a state title as a junior. He has a strong showing as a sophomore when things didn’t get interrupted.
Where Miami Stands: Miami offered him early in the summer and he’s hoping to see Coral Gables for the first time this spring. The coaches have already been up to visit him at school and they’re on his list of favorites. He knows Miami signee Alquadin Muhammad quite well and he’s also friends with Kevin Olsen.

UM's 10 Most Wanted Recruits: 2014
Nate Adelson
Comments:33 Add a comment It might feel like the 2013 recruiting class just finished, and it did, but it’s already time to move on the class of 2014.

With Miami landing just one defensive tackle in 2013, local DT Khairi Clark will be a big priority in 2014.

Miami already has two commitments from South Florida, Miami Central offensive lineman Trevor Darling and Cardinal Newman athlete Travis Rudolph. Both are longtime pledges who have been on board since well before their junior season started.

Miami hosted plenty of big names for their first junior day on January 13th. They will likely host two more this month, the first being on February 9th. Almost any prospect is uncommitted this early in the process so the possibilities to consider are limitless.

With so much top level talent that’s still available, here’s a look at Miami’s Ten Most Wanted prospects at the moment.

RB Dalvin Cook

School: Miami Central
Size: 5-11, 190
Ratings: Four stars, grade of 95, #73 overall prospect, #6 RB, #11 player in Florida
The Basics: Cook does it all for his team and he can play basically any skill position on the field. He had 132 carries for 1452 yards and 22 touchdowns as the Rockets brought home a state title. He possesses blinding speed, he’s unstoppable in the open field, and he can score in multiple fashions.
Where Miami Stands: He’s been a Clemson commitment since June but Miami has really been pushing since the start of the season. He usually mentions how well he believes he would fit in if he ended up in Coral Gables. His brother, DeAndre Burnett, is currently a Miami basketball signee.
InsideTheU.com’s Last Update: RB Cook Comes Up Big In Comeback

RB Sony Michel

School: American Heritage
Size: 5-11, 205
Ratings: Five stars, grade of 98, #18 overall prospect, #3 RB, #2 player in Florida
The Basics: Michel seems like he should be in college by now with how long he’s been on the radar. That’s how it goes when you’re a 1st team All-Broward selection in 8th grade. After missing his entire sophomore year with a torn ACL, he looked quite impressive throughout his junior campaign. He didn’t get a huge workload but he finished with 127 carries for 1258 yards and 18 touchdowns.
Where Miami Stands: He usually takes a politically correct approach to the process but Miami has always been there for him. He’s visited unofficially in every capacity so he’s quite familiar with the Canes. Florida, Florida State, Georgia, and Notre Dame are there as well so he won’t come easy.
InsideTheU.com’s Last Update: RB Michel Learning About Hurricanes

WR Ermon Lane

School: Homestead
Size: 6-2, 190
Ratings: Four stars, grade of 97, #27 overall prospect, #1 WR, #4 player in Florida
The Basics: Lane played as a freshman, emerged as a sophomore, and got even better as a junior. 30 catches for 801 yards and 8 touchdowns may not seem elite but keep in mind that he’s never had a great quarterback throwing his way. He’s a big play threat who’s at his best running deep routes.
Where Miami Stands: Miami is in his top three with Alabama and Florida State. He hasn’t been out on visits a whole lot but he has been to those three. The Canes have two things working in their favor, one being the chance to play with his former teammate, Herb Waters. The other is that linebackers coach Micheal Barrow is his cousin.
InsideTheU.com’s Last Update: WR Lane Meets Golden At Junior Day

OL Reilly Gibbons

School: St. Petersburg Catholic
Size: 6-6, 270
Ratings: Four stars, grade of 92, #135 overall prospect, #15 OT, #17 player in Florida
The Basics: Gibbons is a basketball player and a former tight end so his footwork is quite good at this stage. He doesn’t carry very much bad weight and he’s a good run blocker who’ll improve in the pass game with more experience.
Where Miami Stands: He has never been one to have a list of favorites but his three unofficial visits to Miami have to be some indication about his level of interest. He’s big on the academics and football combination so that’s one of his favorite things about Miami. He lists over 25 offers so far and he appears to be in no rush with the process.
