Notre Dame turnt us down. and so did Texas. i found this on the rivals board i guess its from a newspaper

-UM(The U) called Notre Dame last month, eager to renew the football series, and was told ''we'll get back to you.'' (UM isn't holding its breath.) Miami already has booked Oklahoma and Texas A&M and is negotiating to schedule more Big 12 schools, though Texas isn't interested

dem n*ggas from TX know the deal!! they can't hang with dem boyz from the U. The pus*y a.ss gators refused to play every season, something like FSU. They scared!!. We might not have the strongest recruit class but florida programs are always something to tip the hat to.

Exaclty I just reread Cane Mutiny and you forget how many NFL players they got when other teams didnt want them. Christ they got Jim Kelly cause they want him as a LB in PSU. Dont sleep Coker can get players, people sleep on him cause they were in love with Butch's recurting (for good reason).

cuz thats basically all butch could do. he was a horrible gameday coach. people be sleepin on coker he pretty much has the same record as Pete Carroll but yet coker gets hated on. and im gone step out on the limb and say Coker is better. Pete Caroll is a Defensive specialist right. then why does his defense suck so bad. they make tackling look like an hard a.ss math equation. while Coker was an OC and yes our offense is not as good as normal it was enough for wins. so i would take coker over carroll

Exactly Coker won one championship and got robbed out of another. Butch couldnt out coach anyone, he could close and that was great, but people need to stop hatin on Coker. Hes gotten alot of talent out of players and hes gotten great players. But hes gotta get better QB play, which isnt easy to find. Watch how USC struggles without a constant winner under center.

Estero's Morse gains in stature Canes OL weighs 320 pounds now

By Craig Handel

Originally posted on April 08, 2006

University of Miami center Anthony Wollschlager jokes that when new offensive line coach Mario Cristobal told right guard Derrick Morse that he wanted him heavier, "I think he went out and had 50 chicken wings."

Morse denied that.

"I didn't go crazy," he said. "I'm eating plain chicken and vegetables. I'm eating the same things, just more of it."

The Estero High School graduate is at 320 pounds now. And the redshirt junior-to-be is not the only one who has gained.

Fellow offensive linemen Andrew Bain, a 330-pound redshirt junior-to-be; Reggie Youngblood (310), a sophomore-to-be; and Tyrone Byrd (290), a redshirt sophomore-to-be all weigh more than their listings on the spring depth chart.

There is a clear difference in the philosophies of Cristobal and Art Kehoe, Miami's longtime offensive line coach/assistant head coach, who was fired in January.

Kehoe wanted lighter, quicker offensive linemen, a style that worked for teams such as the Denver Broncos.

Cristobal wants bigger and stronger players who are as explosive as they can be.

"I don't want (Morse) at a particular weight," Cristobal said. "Our strength coach works with guys. He finds a magic number and how it works with body fat."

Cristobal had concerns that if players lost too much weight, they'd cut muscle. That could lead to being 10 to 15 pounds lighter on their squats and 30 pounds lighter on their bench presses, and, as a result, not having enough power to push a defensive lineman that extra yard, yard-and-a-half.

Morse said it's hard to say if he lost strength while trimming down to 290 because of foot and finger injuries last spring. This spring, he said, his lifts are personal bests.

"Last year, I felt like I was tossed around," Morse said. "Coach Kehoe was at your throat. 'How much weight did you lose today, Derrick?'

"Now, coach Cristobal is saying, 'Looking good out there.' He said he doesn't want skinny hennys. Offensive linemen are supposed to be big."

While Morse said the adjustment to Cristobal has been easy, he admitted that he was taken aback at seeing Kehoe get fired.

"It was pretty shocking at first," Morse said. "I was watching (Former Estero High teammate and Florida then-senior offensive tackle) Randy (Hand) at the Outback Bowl when my dad called me in the morning and said, 'Coach Kehoe, coach (Dan) Werner and coach (Don) Soldinger got fired.' "

Wollschlager, a senior-to-be, said he loves having Morse next to him.

"I think the biggest thing is that he's more comfortable with coach Cristobal," Wollschlager said. "Coach Kehoe always was into losing weight, losing weight. Coach Cristobal said, 'Derrick, you're not good at 290. You need to be at 315 and ripping people's heads off."

Cristobal said he's been impressed with Morse so far.

"He jumps the snap count, he owns the snap count," Cristobal said. "He's just an aggressive dude, a guy who f!ghts to be a better player and be as good as he can possibly play."

The big key will be how Miami holds up against pass rushes.

Of Miami coach Larry Coker's nine losses, six saw Hurricane quarterbacks sacked three or more times. Those six losses were to Ohio State in the Jan. 3, 2003, national-title game, to Virginia Tech in 2003 and 2004, and to Florida State, Georgia Tech and LSU last season.

In those games, Miami scored 24, 10, 10, seven, seven and three points.

"I'm well aware of it," Cristobal said of the sacks. "It's hard to tell, it's a product of a lot of things. You have to point at the offense as a whole. A receiver gets hung up, it's a five-step or six- or seven-step drop, the running backs missed their blocks. There's so many factors. The consensus is, it's the offensive line. That's just the way it is."

While Miami's defensive line has abused its Hurricane counterparts in the past, Morse thinks he and his mates are holding their own more this season.

"We've been a lot better in practice," he said. "I think we're outworking the defense."

And Morse seems to be among the leaders now that he's eating more.

"I want our group of five guys looking like one giant wave of destruction," Cristobal said.

"I want them hungry."

And Morse, for one, is eating it up.

Ya exactly and if you read some books hes the one that closed on alot of people when butch left a week before signing day. If it wasnt for Coker they woulda been fu*ked the hell over. Reed, Dorsey and Mckinnie went to the AD office and lobbied for him for weeks. Theres a reason, it takes a special coach to handle 17 future NFL players and about 9 NFL superstars.
