theres always plenty of non vr-4 3000gt's but like i said coming across a real twin turbo vr-4 is pretty rare. like i said my buddy had one, and wow it was a fun car to ride in, all stock and it was fast. i'd liek to get my hands on a rare vehicle, either a gmc typhoon or a gmc syclone, very rare. they were only made for 3 yrs less than 3000 per yr. those fu*kers are fast as fu*k stock.

yea, i seen one of them at a dealership in jersey.....all black and sh*t.

very nice truck considering whats under the hood....the Typhoon that is.
they are pretty rare as far as streetwise.
That is the souped up GMC Jimmy right? (we're talking about the old square ones)

and as far as my car
you see all the powder coating ive had done
its got a couple electronic upgrades *shhhh*
and under the hood.....well.....i can't tell you everything =)
i upgraded the downpipe.....a new blowoff valve
i've got some STUFF done to it.
i prefer to keep it on the low, but the turbo's are still stock

you don't really have to worry until you see a front mount intercoolor, or i tell you i have 13t's or 15g's.....let alone DR's lol......none of which i have

so, its just mostly the boost controller that adds to the speed....stock it runs like 9 lbs of boost....im pushing around 15-17.....

drilled and slotted rotors.....nothing too extreme yet, but they are beastly out the dealership.

just the fact that the physical weight of the car achieves such high speeds is the amazing thing. lol.
and the AWD.

it's got an aftermarket exhaust on it too as you see.....i downgraded from the 4" pipes i had.....those are about 3. they aren't as loud either......but unlike those sh*tty honda civics, my car MOVES when it makes noise ;)

A friend of mine VR4 is using twin GReddy 20G's pushing 25psi with a 150 shot direct port, its a pretty mean car.

twin 20g's is kicking out some serious horsepower
does he have an intercooler along with that?

DR1000's > 20g's though, but all that sh*t is expensive as fu*k.
if i upgraded more sh*t on my motor, i could easily up the boost.....if i ran that now, my sh*t would probably show a couple counts of knock though....

i don't fu*k with nitrous though. smh @ all who do.
if you can't achieve quickness with a car without it, what's the point.

he's gotta be well in the low 11's or well into the 10's with all that if he's got the rest of the appropiate stuff....

is it rollcaged?......in PA, any car on the track that runs lower than 11.5 has to be fitted with a roll cage.

when i'm finished, i want my car to be into the high 11's. that'll beat most of the sh*t on the street, and that'll make me happy....

i like keeping my sh*t on an everyday driver status. i don't want no rollcages and sh*t.

try and get a picture of the engine if you can. i'm sure it looks beastly.
does he have any external mods like bodykits and sh*t?

i got a 93, so my car comes with the aero wing and front setup....when you reach a high enough speed, a bar comes out in the front under the hood, and the wing adjusts to keep you lower to the ground. lol.
same wing system used in the porsches.
pretty advanced for a 1993, eh?

damn crazy if he doesnt, he'd blow his turbos + it would over heat alot aswell

that vr4 looks mean the us version of jap cars are not as good as the originals
in sydney where i live there are massive amounts of jap tuned cars straight off the boat .
i got no car atm but i wanna get an Rx7 s4 or 5 if not that id like a 91 model 180sx sr20 version (great drift cars) :D

Of corse he is intercooled, the car is intercooled stock to begin with. He did however upgrade a a massive GReddy front mount with all custom piping he made himself.

DR1000? Is that a mitsu turbo? Got a compressor map or any other specs on it?

The point is be able to launch while making some serious power. Using such large turbos add lag, the N2O is used to help spool time. He has it set on a pressure switch, it stops spraying the the intake manifold sees 10 psi of boost pressure. Its a very beneficial mod when trying to make a VR4 run 10's. He'd be foolish not to use it.

Not caged yet, since it isn't track legal it hasn't been to the track since 04.

I got pics somewhere, i'll have to look for them. All he has is an aftermarket front bumper, mainly for the bigger mouth opening to let more air flow to the intercooler. I think it's a Bomex but don't quote me on that one.

Running non-intercooled will never cause you to blow your turbos or make you over heat, that is not what intercoolers are for at all.......

Running non-intercooled will never cause you to blow your turbos or make you over heat, that is not what intercoolers are for at all.......
Hot air from the turbo flows through tubes inside the intercooler. The turbo air transfers heat to the tubes, warming the tubes and cooling the turbo air. Outside air (or water) passes over the tubes and between fins that are attached to the tubes. Heat is transferred from the hot tubes and fins to the cool outside air. This heats the outside air while cooling the tubes. This is how the turbo air is cooled down. Heat goes from the turbo air to the tubes to the outside air.

Sustained high boost can rocket up the intake charge temperature; stock boost settles at ~110'F, running 12psi jumps that number up to 280'F+!!(Tested at 70'F ambient) High inlet temperatures can cause severe detonation. This is not good!

-so do the math for 25 pound and no intercooler. turbo + head gaskets blown..

anyway thats my opinion

So whats your point? Why did you need to quote me to say that? Nothing i said was contradicted by what you said.

Do the math, running non-intercooled will still never cause you to blow your turbos or make you over heat.

the DR's stand for Dynamic Racing

its a custom turbo line they make.
mainly tested on stealths and 3000GT
im sure they could be put on other sh*t though

Matt Monet achieved some of the top 3000GT and Stealth times ever recorded.

The car ran a 10.69@133.4 and backed it up with a 10.75@134.4. The car was running 29psi, and no nitrous. An incredibly fast run for the cars second trip to the track with the DR-800 kit. This car also had a stock shortblock, stock cams, and stock camgears!

im still running the stock 9b's.....
i want to upgrade to the 13g turbo upgrade they have listed under Bolt On Turbos.

gives the car the perfect amount of horsepower for the street.
its still totally driveable, but when its time to play

you'll blow 75% of these guys on the street away.

plus, everything for these cars is so fu*king expensive

the 13g turbo upgrade and a front mount intercooler comes out to about 4000-5000$

and thats JUST the 13g's.
thats not even dr-500s or 650s, let alone 900's and 1000's
