pushups, they work your triceps and chest... but you also need to work your back. most people just build up their chest and not their back, so they look big, but cant punch for sh*t.

^^^ dude must throw jabs, if you want to knock sombody out it all comes from your legs. do Squats then have some one who has boxed show you how to use a pivot and shift your weight.

the power of a punch comes from the MIND -if you wanna get technical.
a punch is all how your muscle reflec react to the situtation.

if you could a pull a punch back in as fast as you threw it out there will be more power behind it.(according to bruce lee)

your punches come from your waist and your legs.

work on your legs and triceps and work on your punches in general.

a punch is only as good as the person who throws it.

What the guy above said is right. (in part)

You can lie on your back with a 10, 15 or 20lbs weight and throw punches. That will boost speed and power.

You can also stand and throw punches, with the same amout of weight and that will serve the perpose while strengthening your other muscles that support your punch, ie your shoulders.

hit a bag... you could increase your power output quick from just hitting a bag right at least 5-10 minutes a day.

You need to work
Deltoids,Triceps,Traps,Legs, and proper technique


Military press
Deltoid Raises
Alternating dumb bell jerks
Tricep curls
squats
lunges
dips
pull ups
chin ups
Cleans

strong abs and back are gonna help to... f!ghters train there WHOLE body to punch repeatedly
If you wanna train like a f!ghter then train like one cause that infamous "1 hitter quiter" Very RARELY shows up...

but if you have p!ss poor technique all that above wont amount to sh*t

when you hit a heavy bag it shouldn't swing all over the place either..your not puttin you weight in your punches ..your arm punching....when you hit a heavy bag you want it to "fold" around your fist..your penetrating then...really puttin your weight in the puch....You want see your self punching through the bag and seeing your fist come out the other side....

Need to work your hand speed too...that sh*t is a MUST
doing push ups and clapping your hands will help you out

Also doing alternating push ups on a medicine ball will too...work shadow boxing too.... work on zippin your blows out there and punch head level even when your arms are tired..they gotta get used to the work plus your oppenents head is up there ..if you wanna work some body shots then throw them in the mix

And why prep for a f!ght? They never really go the way you plan them and you need WIND for f!ghting to..don't forget that..most street n*ggas is gassed in like 60 seconds of hard f!ghting a really punch like bi*ches with there mouth all open swing all wild and sh*t.

core training and legs mostly... your power comes from putting your whole body into it... just like hitting a baseball... the quicker you can get your core around the more powerful the punch will be

yeah work your core, abs and legs. Most f!ghters train low weights and high reps because speed is more important for a punch.

mostly it does just come down to the proper technique, but some good exercises that will help if you are using the proper technique are pullups or lat pull downs , and also military press

One arm cable lateral raises.

only because you're pulling back an accessible amount of weight as you pull back that sh*t hurts. in the real world say like you're f!ghting somebody prior to you training with that exercise you'll pull back your arm wit no force so think about what will happen to your opponent KO'ed

You should have all of your muscles strong, especially quads, chest, triceps, back and forearms, but learn how to punch before f!ghting. Just being strong might be counterproductive to throwing a good punch. You should try to throw punches that are loose and use very little muscle, tensing up the arm only at the last split-second before impact. this will bring more speed and force, especially if you are strong and can put your weight into the punch at the right moment. to practice this concept, try punching a bag or a pillow with all of your arm muscles tense. then try to completely relax all muscles and throw the same punch, tensing the arm only to bring it back quickly.
Excersizes: Bench press (punches use pecs which are worked by bench)
Incline press (good for brute strengh, works upper pecs and includes shoulders which are essential for punching)
Squats (gives leg strengh and therefore a solid foundation
Tricep kickbacs (triceps are good for arm mass, the more mass you have behind a punch, the more likely you are to inflict damage.
Rows (works the back, which is a useful muscle for all f!ghting
Wide grip chinups (also works the back
