LOL @ all these people estimating Nas' income, you never hear about Talib or Fat Joe being broke but people always talking about Nas...a man who has gone platnum on every album except his last
the people thats always hollering somebody is broke probably don't have 50 bucks in the bank. if nas was broke i don't think he would have paid that 1.5 million for the house he has here in atlanta. if thats being broke i wanna be broke like that...........lmfao

facts:

nas does not own his publishing

nas does make 100k plus per show, therefore he rich, regardless. He dont gotta do nothin more than perform, no record sales, he dont care cuz he dont really see that money anyway, thats why he hasnt put out a commercial single, if he sell records its not gonna make him much richer than he is.

but nas is smarter than to buy a 2 million dollar beat, he can jus invest in a few lesser known producers and get the best out of them, like he did for gods son and streets disciple.

Nas needs to let L.E.S. do his whole new album, when ever L.E.S. did his old sh** the tracks were amazing. I really aint feelin Salam Rehmi much but Nas over neptunes beats, I cant think of anything that would sound worse, the track would be worse then "American Way" offa street Disciple.

THANK GOD IM NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO NOTICED!

they get like 250k right out the box for some ol' wack beats.
i dont care how fu*king hot the drums are, i would never charge anyone, let alone Nas, 2mil for a beat. thats outlandishly uncalled for.

dude i seriously doubt it. i love how everyone suddenly is nas accountant. you dont know what he has and he gets money from concerts and other places as well. artists also get royaltys if their song is used. im sure if he thought a beat was worth it he could afford it.

ya'll fools mayne! an artist is lucky to get $1 for every album sold after the costs are recuperated- and the costs are pretty damn high, especially if you spend loads of dough on wack videos (not actually accusing Nas of this tho). Costs include: manufacture, recording, video, promotion, all sorts of crazy sh*t. Plus producer costs. Basically the cut is about 12-15% of profit for 99.9% of artists, so even if there are NO costs per cd, the artist gets about $1 per record sold. So do the math. Look at Nas' numbers. Imma big Nas fan but NO WAY would it make sense for him to shell out $2m on a beat. Same goes for all big rap stars, even Diddy, Jay-Z, etc.. wouldn't pay that much it's financial suicide. Neptunes beats on average go for about $200,000 from what I heard in some interview, and even then most artists only buy one or two because to pay that much for each track would destroy their profit.
Out.
