Not sure what’s going with essence fest but this new FBA/Africa discussion is interesting to say the least.

It's ret@rd losers who need to find a place of " self worth" most black Americans don't give 2 fu#ks about "FBA" that sh1t is reserved for dumb low self esteem n1gga with YT daddy's as fathers ...

Yt corporates owns Jazz Fest, Essence and Voodoo fest nowadays so they're tone deaf placing acts. They don't know what's profitable and plus Lauren Hill is always late to her shows either an hour or 2 late, she's not professional at all

Essence dying because black culture is dying

Black culture is dying because it relies too heavily on white people

White clothing lines, white record label money, white fans buying the music, white neighborhoods after making money, white or gay movie and TV production, white talking points in politics and acceptance into white spaces.

If anything we need to be connected MORE with negros of the diaspora from the Caribbean, Africa, and elsewhere.

Essence fest flopping ain’t got sh1t to do with no damn immigration/immigrants.

Some of those “FBA” pushers make some solid points though, the discourse itself is still interesting.

well essence is a black company that got sold to time warner in 2018....

it's the american way to build companies up to eventually sell them ...so nothing is wrong with that ...

but it's still operated and controlled by black people

i think jazz fest is ran by a non profit ...they big on new orleans culture ...

voodoo fest is some corporation sh1t ..its own by live nation

aight this sh1t out of control, needs to be some type of summit, sit down or whatever to just have the conversation about this divide that is going on this sh1t is not helping anybody or anything just have people online going back and forth with name calling and insults

this sh1t is NOT A GOOD LOOK for anybody who gets involved with this BULLsh1t

come together, sit down have a summit come up with solutions and hear each other out this sh1t corny now foreal

besides new people being in control and some feeling like they trying to take over and push Black Americans who built Essence Out, I think Adding Rappers was stupid, maybe certain Rappers who fit the Theme cool but you had Busta last year cursing out Middle Age women telling them to "Stand TF Up", you had Baby Talking about "pu$$y n1ggas" and all type of weird sh1t last year that is not the crowd for that sh1t it is suppose to be for a Mature Crowd but I guess they trying to get more young people to attend

I’m just saying - remove “them” from the conversation for a second. It does matter where you come from. We found that out in Liberia, in Ghana there are already complaints of black Americans gentrifying, and Africans have a certain difference of perspective from the rest of us when they come here.

The point is - Africans don’t seem to realize they are pushing a nomadic lifestyle on black Americans. If you tell me that this is not my home, and there is obvious friction when we go to the motherland, then we have no home. This is what jews, Kurds, and gypsies deal with: a people without a land to truly call home and who are inevitably persecuted everywhere they go. That’s not something anyone with sense would sign up for. We can politic as fellow blacks, but with the understanding that we as black Americans have an identity and this our home.

i think it's subjective ...there are african americans living in african countries now and loving it ....

are these views of gentrification by african americans wide spread or are they just voiced by some ...

the viewpoint from kenyan ceo of the festival is that black people no matter where they from come together and support each other ...i don't know what's wrong with that statement

the push is for unity ...it's not saying you have to leave america ...

that's why i don't understand the FBA stuff ...it's power in numbers ...why would we fight against another group. that looks like us and we may damn well be related to ...

it becomes semantics at a point ...two generations of living in america don't africans become african americans lol

She tried and failed to change the culture and the audience of the festival but her vision for it was lame since this woman is out of touch with the culture being that she an upper class Kenyan. Whoever put her in charge fu#ked up the bag

OP baiting and lying to get u to have divisive debates fueled on both sides by non-Black posters pretending to be Black. Rinse and repeat, different thread same agenda. Up to u if y'all want to fall for it when some of us tell u the game. If u still falling for it at this point, then I gotta assume u one of them/the perpetrators.

He even try to get u to believe nas was speaking out against it when that's not his Instagram handle and he's performing at this year's show lmao. This is how lazy these trolls are...terrible try

In any case, still a bunch of people here. But I just put my ticket up for sale last night because it's starting at 6 and it's gonna have me up too late to want to trade and work tomorrow. I've enjoyed the scene just walking around my neighborhood tho...

The problem is also speech like this that generalize what "Africans" do or think... Or what "FBA" do or think... Or what "Caribbeans" do or think...

In reality and in fact, most the majority of Black people are about unity, but the ones in the minority get the most attention paid to their comments because it's the most inflammatory. And as mentioned in prior posts, half the time it's not even really people of those groups saying sh1t. It's people pretending to do so on their behalf because Black unity is a scary thing to White supremacy objectives. This is why they're scrambling and taking the digital approach heavy since 2016. Post Obama, this been the agenda... But they had negroes busy worried about the gay agenda and missing the bigger picture... I digress...
