Pacino's an extremely mediocre actor.

The people who love him just too stupid to know any better.

But being loud and outlandish has worked for him more than it hasn't so why stop.

You sound like someone who thinks they know sh1t about film..but whose favorite movie is some bullsh1t like Scarface or Forrest Gump.

And you clearly dont know sh1t about good acting if you havent noticed him on rinse and repeat the last 20 years, doing the same shtick.

that was kind of the point of the movie right?

Carlito's way is a more subdued portrayal.....that is De Palma as well

Uhhhhhhh

Let's not throw Forrest Gump a stray.

It's a classic.

Definitely not cartoonish, his character starts out reserved and subdued then builds up to the point where it became purposely over-the-top the more successful he got. What I would consider cartoonish performances (not always a bad thing) are:

a new way to look at Carlito's Way is as if Tony never died in Scarface but instead went to jail and came out...he even reunites with Chi Chi in the memory lane scene

I love the Tony Montana character like everyone else, but I didn't like that he seemed unstoppable and got to the top just from pure machismo. Dude was catching bodies in broad daylight, killing cops, hitting on his boss's girl, selling drugs in other gangs territories, and none of that ever came back to bite him and I feel like people in that life have been murdered for less.

But there are people like that, and I think the portrayal was fine. I just feel like someone that hit headed wouldn't have made it as far as he did. The acting, music, and directing was great, but I feel like that script could been better.

Tony tells Frank they have to expand their territory after making the deal with Sosa.

[see video]

Before Tony cuts him off, Frank ask what the Diaz Brothers and Gasper Gomez will think when they start dealing larger amounts. Suggesting there was some agreement in place about where and what was sold among the different operations.

The Diaz Brothers are more relevant in the video game. They kill Tony's mother among other things.

Yeah, Franks/Tony's crew or gang or whatever is the same thing. Frank had a treaty with the Diaz Brothers & Tony was warned that he would break it by moving more product in the city, which he did anyway. The Diaz Brothers never did anything though, and Tony simply never interacted with them at all which I feel was poor writing. Don't get caught up in the terminology, you know what I'm trying to say
