It’s never been about rings solely but the all-around impact and accolades combined. Nobody has impacted the game like MJ on and off the court. That’s where the GOAT tag comes from. Gil knows that he’s just selling his show.

They called that yellow-eyed quitter “GOAT” before his first ring

That was because of his impact off the court. Wasn’t solidified just media propaganda. He went on to solidify it. Media did the same exact sh1t for Bron. Was calling him the king before he even stepped foot on an NBA court. He just happened to live up to it so people forget. Same with MJ.

A major part of this is based on agenda Kareem is a Muslim man and black activist Bill Russel is a major black activist. No way they want the face of basketball to me either of them however MJ wasn’t standing for anything uplifting the black community which is why he got that push.

YES. GP was a great scorer, passer, AND defender.

Just couldn’t beat MJ. He got close tho. I remember watching that series. Sonics had the Bulls SHOOK.

Especially when Glove yammed on Mike.

And I see your logic, but it’s irrelevant to my point.

Great players play to win. Not just stat pad.

Arenas was a reckless gun slinger that never made it past the 2nd round. Even Kobe said his shot selection was awful. So comparing him to two PGs that both got to the finals isnt the best example.

GREAT players carry their team to a championship.

Or at least the finals.

Just my view on it.

Didn't watch, but I know Agent Zero has Zero rings. Even if he has a good point, it's not going to mean anything coming from him because people are just gonna call him bitter. If someone who has numerous rings said rings didn't matter, then the statement could hold some weight.

Some ballers do get fortunate enough to be on the right team at the right time, just think JaVale McGee. It don’t mean he’s better than everyone because he has three rings!

They can talk about rings all day, it's immaterial, the moment he "took his talents to south beach..." he was out of the GOAT debate

You can't leave your hometown franchise going into the prime of your career to form a super team....

No desire to click. Tho, can read.
Bottom line every athlete is different.
From experience, you come into the league, sure the allure/awe of winning a ring/championship is there for many, maybe even most. Nevertheless, don't for one fu#king sec forget pro sports is a BUSINESS.
By year 3 or so, if you still in the league, 85% or better focused primarily on that dough/contract. If a ring cones, cool, bonus. Really fu#k that sh1t tho. It's a game when a said and done. It's n1ggas in the HOF that are broke. Rather be a no name millionaire than that. sh1t, majority of owners couldn't care less about a ring. Fans only know what they know.

The ad hominem fallacy is a type of logical fallacy where an argument is attacked by attacking the person making the argument, rather than the argument itself. This means that instead of addressing the substance of the argument, the focus shifts to the speaker's character, motives, or other irrelevant personal attributes
[see photo]

Anyway, the crux of his argument is correct. Stop using rings in a goat discussion if rings didn’t matter when you crowned MJ. That’s not an opinion… it really went down that way.

Kareem just didn’t have every sports network and wheaties commercial pumping the airwaves with marketing.
